Id like to take this opportunity to give a brief overview of the Super Robot Wars series. I am doing this because recently most people tell me they have no idea what it is, so I thought this might help
Super Robot Wars is a series of tactical role-playing video games Developed by Banpresto and Published by Namco.
The main selling point of the franchise is having a story that crosses over several popular mecha anime, manga and video games, allowing characters and mecha from different titles to team up or battle one another.
And boy have alot of series been crossed

The first game in the franchise was released for the Nintendo Game Boy on April 20, 1991.
This is what the first game looked like when you were on the grid
This one title spawned numerous games that were released on over 15 different systems with many different branching sub series IE Original Generations, Main line, Alpha, Z, Compact, ect. The Original Generations games are the only ones with the potential to be localized because those games rely on 100 percent original characters.
The latest game, which will be released in holiday 2012, is the first time the series has graced HD systems. The title is 2nd Super Robot Wars OG. Which signifies it is part of the Original Generation line of games, which could be localized.
This is what an in game battle animation, in the PS3 game looks like.
Quite a difference from the Gameboy game huh?
What are my favorite Super Robot Wars Titles for the variety of systems the series as been on?
Super robot Wars L (DS) - This game introduced the new evangelion movies to the series, which i love
Super Robot Wars Z2 Parts 1 and 2 (psp) - Introduced Code geass, my favorite anime of the last 5 years.
Super Robot Wars OG: Original Generations (ps2) - A compilation set if you will of the gba super robot wars original generation 1 and 2. The game includes more story, new characters, new mechs, new bosses, new stages, ect. Making it the best Version of the original Generations line.
Super Robot Wars Judgement (GBA) - Added Full Metal Panic!, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu. How awesome is that
4th Super Robot Wars(Snes) - The first title to feature a "Banpresto Original" protagonist alongside separate real robot and super robot paths. This was very controversial at the time
Super Robot Wars Alpha (PSX) - Important for starting the alpha line of games which was the first Super Robot Wars to feature fully animated attacks and a more complex plot. It also added the Evangelion and Macross movies into cannon.
Well my loyal readers, I hope youve gained a better understanding of Super Robot Wars and all that it has to offer not only the mech fan, but the strategy rpg gamer.
