Some time in the next week or so, Rockband will be seeing a new full-album release; the self-titled, 1978 debut album of The Cars, considered by many as a hallmark of the oncoming late 70s, early 80s pop-rock, new-wave influenced rock scene. As cool as that is, I don't think Harmonix has really considered the possibilities of this refreshing new content delivery system.
Here's some suggestions to Harmonix if they wish to broaden the horizons of their userbase.
You might ask yourself "Why would you want an album download of 60 minutes of guitar feedback??" And to that I would say: Stop questioning everything. Stop stifling your creativity. For too long we have been told what qualifies as a "song" or as "music." Rockband needs to spread it's wings a little, artistically, and just get this done. Put out a "Feedback Peripheral" and let the beard stroking commence as gamers everywhere let their guitar controllers play THEMSELVES as part of a conceptual art project that anyone on Xbox Live can share with one another.
Think you're bad ass because you can sing the entirety of Judas Priest's "Screaming For Vengeance" on Very Hard and get 100%? Mastered the vocal nuances of "Two Minutes To Midnight" to the point where you're singing it in your sleep?
Not good enough.
We need to expand the horizons for those whose favorite instrument is the mic. And Tiny Tim is the man for that job. Want to impress me? 100%. Very Hard. "Tip Toe Through The Tulips With Me."
Then you can pat yourself on the back with your Gamerscore.
Three words.
Essential. Kenny. Fucking. Loggins.
And why should the downloadable content belong exclusively to established musicians? Hmm? Charles Manson's landmark, breakthrough album "LIE" is filled with the kind of angry, schizophrenic folk-rock that's criminally absent from Rockband. And his unique vocal stylings as he sings about the oncoming race-war apocalypse will practically break your heart.
If anyone from Harmonix is reading, please take my suggestions seriously. I think you will agree we can both work together to change the face of music games.
Essential. Kenny. Fucking. Loggins."
i laughed
1.Modest Mouse-We were dead before the ship even sank (volcals would be crazy)
2. Artic Monkeys-i dont care whick one just throw some songs
SKA.
I want me some Reel Big Fish
You guys know I'm joking, right?
Out of all the ska bands, you choose Reel Big Fish? Yuck, way too poppy. If anything, I'd go for Big D or the much longer shot, Operation Ivy.
or the album elephant shell by tokyo police club. that'd be cool if they came out with a keyboard peripheral.
That album will forever be connected with the retard kid at my school who asked everybody if they had got GreenDayDookie yet. He would never stop talking about it and it was always GreenDayDookie, one word.
