<Joker> Neither.
<Joker> Because it's twelve.

Boom Blox will feature head tracking
Spitfire | 11:21 PM on 02.21.2008 9 comments

Everyone keeping up with crazy awesome Wii news remembers Johnny Lee with his head tracking VR program. Here's a refresher:

It seems, ol Spielberg or at least the dev team working on Boom Blox has taken notice.
Here is some info from GDC regarding the feature in the game.

There was a special “GDC Easter Egg” presented at the end of the session. It seems as though Head Tracking has been worked into the production of Boom Blox. Some things are unclear as to whether or not you can move around through previously recorded levels that you played through, or if they are custom built levels. The important thing is that it IS worked into the game and is available. Things needed by the player would be either LED glasses, or a wireless sensor bar.

Im glad that people are taking innovation like this seriously. Albeit this feature could just be a small bit in an "instant replay" mode or a full addon to a control scheme, but it would at least open the door and inspire other devs to take this technology in awesome gameplay directions.

Good on ya Steven, oh and dont suck.

I can't wait for this to make a butt-ton of money so Sony and MicroSoft will take notice. When that happens this will be the new trend and how awesome will that be?

Oh man. Johnny Lee asked of the developers "I wanna see some games," and then who responds? STEVEN FRIGGIN' SPIELBERG. Awesome.

Damn you, Spitfire! You beat me to the punch! :)
I was totally at this session and, like everyone else, was hoping Spielberg would show up. Sadly, he did not. :(

Is this for serious? That's incredible if it is! I would buy this game in a heartbeat for head tracking.

Incredible.

I'm just hoping that it isn't a lame gimmick but an awesome, revolutionizing, epic feature.

Knowing Spielberg, it will be EPIC

I can't wait till they make an on-rails shooter like this! A new Sin and Punishment game would work perfectly with it!
