The Sky is Falling

Is it weird to say I was thinking about Meteos all day?

Is it weird to also mention that at the peak of my withdrawal, I was in psychology 102, discussing addiction? There's something about that game that just makes me go nuts.

Actually, I wanted to talk about my new love for hand held consoles. The Gameboy was something I only ever used for games like pokemon or Robopon. I never really got into the hand held thing, always sticking with my Sega, or Super Nintendo. This all seemed to be a commandment..until I got a Nintendo DS.

I can't seem...to put it down. Tetris was never something I enjoyed until recently, so when I got my hands on Meteos, time seemed to jump forward in 2 hour intervals. From the time I looked into the screen, to the time I looked up, these past couple of weeks have been nothing but struggles against the many different planets you face in that game.

This is a bit late to discuss a game a year or so old, but its been such a good experience to NOT discuss it. Maybe its an obsession, but I'm not the only one who sees the different patterns of Tetris on the bathroom floor.

Nothing is worse than playing Tetris DS before bed and then closing your eyes to go to sleep and all you see are tetrads falling into place forming Tetrises. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. Then you finally do fall asleep and you dream about Tetris.

Tell me about it. I think it may just be worse during a lecture.

Comments policy

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
