Snoopbob2006 | 2:10 PM on 08.07.2007 13 comments

Ive been considering getting star wars galaxies "the full experience" or what ever its called for along time now and i played the 14 day trial and noticed the place was dead.. So im thinking well maybe its just going through dark days...

Anyone still playing?

Is there more people playing again?

Is it worth it?

From what I've heard from the old players that are still around, they've been trying to undo the damage from the combat revamp but it's too little too late. As it stands, I'd say no, it's not worth playing unless you find a pre-NGE private server.

I tried the trial out a while back.

Guess what I did for a week? Play music in the cantina to level up my skills and watch people dance.

Why? Cause it healed people's stamina.

That was the end of that.

Probably just best to go with Shenmue Online.

At least there'll be sailors to look for.

Galaxies Sucks. They could have made such a badass mmorpg using the Star Wars franchise but they just decided to go fuck it all up. If you're looking for an mmorpg to play I suggest Guild Wars ( new expansion coming out shortly).

Well it depends on who you ask. A lot of people will say WoW is the best with varying reasons (The one I've heard most common is "Because the most people play it"). I, myself, like EVE Online (though, if you do try this, you will have to have the patience of a saint) and Dark Age of Camelot (Sieges are a blast. Kinda appeals to the no-bullshit crowd. The damage is a bit higher than in most games (As always, mages have the upperhand on DPS. They can fourshot tanks most of the time, but this is balanced by way of that nearly anything oneshots them.) To compare one asset of WoW to this, I'll say "Rogues in WoW try to kill you with insane acrobatic bunnyhopping. Rogueish classes in DAoC just stab you in the back.". Though it looks like Blizzard is trying to rip into the DAoC crowd by implementing sieges in the upcoming expansion.) But all in all, it just depends on your taste. If you are patient and want to try SWG, I believe the pre-CU server emulator is almost finished.

If you like the general idea's and play style behind WoW but want something new, check out Lord of the Rings Online. I played it for a few months, but it was just too much like WoW for me to get into it.

Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) is really, really good when it comes to end game and PvP, but the single player/questing is a bit lacking and repetitive, and the servers are getting smaller and smaller, almost to the point where it's hard to play...

I'm personally waiting for Warhammer Online. It's the team behind DAoC (Mythic) and it looks like they pretty much have combined the single player/questing of WoW, with the sieging, castle defense, and very interactive PvP that they are sooo good at... Check out Warhammer, it's getting A LOT of polish time, and should release Q1 next year.
