I have no friends. Spiral of silence?

Under strict orders by god and due to my presence being quite insignificant here I am starting a blog... (I mean, no one is going to read this most likely so why not) Hmmm... now what to do with such power? Do I just sit here procrastinating from taking care of real world responsibilities? Do I continue to ask myself hypothetical questions? While all of these seem to be very possible solutions to a problem that I never knew I had I feel that I must kick off this blog the way I feel most blogs are intended to be used. As a means to rant about general crap. God bless the internet.
So I am a fan of the Halo series and I love them all. My favorite is Halo 3 now because although the campaign is short I still loved the mission design. Also I felt the replay value made up for it's short campaign. I bring this up because my rant is that I got a lot of flack for being on the side of the fence that loved this game. People that bashed the Halo series when the third installment was released acted as though they were outnumbered but in the gamer community if you liked Halo it's almost as though you were shunned unless in a forum specifically related to Halo. Gamers jumped on a band wagon where they had all ready decided that Halo 3 would NOT live up to its hype regardless of what it offered to its fans. People, determined to be uninfluenced by hype and marketing, decided to hate and hate the game. They still bought it, but would bitch and bitch to fit in. I don't mark this as everyone that doesn't like the game, just those that blindly hate. There are some that, Halo is not their cup of tea and I understand but something else has happened here. I think as video games have grown into a larger entertainment medium hardcore gamers have forgotten that the main purpose of games is solely just to entertain. Everyone seems easily won over by pretty graphics but no one looks for what makes a game truly entertaining. Graphics help yes, and are part of an equation, but gameplay is equally important and that's why I love halo. I love it's gameplay. It's natural control scheme. The encounters, the vehicular combat, and when I play multiplayer I truly feel the work put into balancing the weapons. I hadn't had any excitement for COD4 until the multiplayer details were flushed out. Although the campaign looks to be dissapointing (as the COD AI seems to need a shot in the arm) I do want to play the multiplayer.

So in short, dislike a game because of mechanics or story. Something credible rather then just doing the opposite of what you think the masses are doing. Doing something because it isn't popular is just a stupid as doing something because it is popular.
oh and if you're asking yourself "Why now? why not post this back in September?" My response to that is.... cheese sandwich... that and I figure more people would listen rationally now if they happen to stumble upon my blog then if I posted this shortly after the release.

I'm on the internet!
