Hello Destructoid! I know how many of you are rabbid movie fans, and I was asked about this particular series of blogs that I discontinued. Well hopefully this is the epic return, because if I decide to continue this then it will be the only blogs from me you'll get to read. Lucky you!
I have been waiting for the release of this film for a long while now. I have anticipated the trailer and couldn't wait to see Steve Carrell's preformance, and I wasn't let down. The plot seems to me like it could fit very well as the origin of Agent 86, and I have enjoyed the humor so far. Here is Get Smart.
Another wonderful surprise would be Toy Story. There is a planned 2010 release of the third film of this now on going trilogy, but not only that, we'll be given an awesome 3-D version of both the original, and the sequel due in 2009. How about that? Pretty cool, I loved "you've got a friend in me" song.
Sweet, now I can look forward to buying the trilogy to make up for selling the 2-pack I used to own on ebay. The Get Smart movie is looking good, I'm so glad they stuck with the shoe phone.
Get Smart is directed by Peter Segal, the guy who directed The Longest Yard remake, 50 First Dates, Anger Management, and Nutty Professor 2. While the trailer looks funny, I'm not holding out much hope.
Then again, the guy did direct Tommy Boy, but that was over a decade ago.
Hah, I just posted some of my own news in film, since I thought you had permanently retired the feature. Glad to see that it has returned.
Also, why the hell is Alan Arkin slumming it up in Get Smart? He wins an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Little Miss Sunshine, and this is the next film he stars in? In addition, did anyone else catch that the villain in the movie is played by Borat’s partner, Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian)? Finally, Anne Hathaway is fucking gorgeous.
@B-Radicate: Yeah, I picked up the Pixar Short Films Collection – Volume 1 and Ratatouille on Blu-ray. They both look great, though the latter film is absolutely mind-blowing, since it’s a brand-new movie. I just feel bad that I already own their other movies on DVD; I can’t bring myself to re-buy movies in HD that I have on DVD.
To Infinity and Beyond! Toy Story FTW. What a coincidence, this is great news! My wife just popped in the old Toy Story VHS for the kids the other day and they actually liked it. Never seen my son sit that still for that long, although this is partially due to Mr. Potato Head's appearance, as that is his favorite toy.
Thanks for the news, and yes, keep up the movie news blogs. Ever since I became addicted to Dtoid, I forget to check my other sites like comingsoon.net or AICN. Thanks dude.
Quite sure Toy Story 3 will not be very good as the Pixar team really wanted to leave it alone after the first. And Get Smart looks alright (zomg Borat's manager's in it lulz). This is also The Rock's second movie where he isn't called Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I was also kinda disappointed that Carell isn't even TRYING to imitate the original Agent 86 (Inspector Gadget!!). Not even a teensie bit.. ;~;
Also, WTF is up with the pose in that poster?! I mean, I know they don't actually pose that way and it's blatant shooping for a poster, but it's just INHUMAN how his body is moving!

And has someone cloned Steve Carell or does the man just work damn hard? Take a day off man, the 'new Tom Hanks' handle is surely yours by now.

Toy Story 3 news, however, is a welcome surprise. LOVED the first two, especially the sequel.
