I can't wait, I love a good zombie movie. Also, you're thinking of Land of the Dead, Day of the Dead is the one in the military bunker where the scientist is trying to train the zombies.
Yes, I love George ROMERO films. Sorry Snail, had to point out the spelling, since i know you are a stickler for that kind of thing.
;)
Yes, I corrected my zombie movie trivia, and my horrendous grammar mistakes.
Be prepared, I'm going to do it again!
I'm psyched about this. I've seen all the previous "Dead" movies, and this is no different. Day and Land are definitely the two weakest entries, but I look at Land of the Dead as a revisionist version of Dawn, which is very visibly poking fun at our nations top 1% and the upper class and how they ignore the larger problems in our country to pursue their own lofty and self important goals.
Rank of "Dead" movies:
Dawn of the Dead
Night of the Living Dead (1989)
Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Land of the Dead
Day of the Dead
I hope and pray that Diary of the Dead is at least as good as the 1989 remake.
And btw, I'm a huge George Romero fan. I love zombie movies and yet somehow, I've never seen Evil Dead. I must correct this soon.
Looking forward to this film Snail, thanks for sharing.
Man ive seen all the previous movies and have them on dvd but ive been hearing pretty harsh words about this one.
Day Of The Dead FTW...That movie was depression incarnate. The world was pretty much no more.
What did ye guys think of the remake of of dawn btw, i taught it could have been worse. Enjoyable but maybe a little too much of a popcorn-movie...
I like Day of the Dead.
My ranking is:
Dawn of the Dead
Night of the Living Dead
Day of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Land of the Dead
Land is the only one I disliked though, the Dawn remake is so low because even though I thought it was pretty good I like the originals much more. Never seen the Night of the Living Dead remake though, I should fix that. To Netflix, Away!
I loved the Dawn of the Dead remake! It brought a whole new zombie experince to us nerds. I mean, they were fucking SUPER zombies, running with all their might, crawling up walls and pipes while just being half a torso.
That scared the living piss out of me.
Since we're on the subject of zombie movies has anyone here seen Re-Animator? I love that movie, the sequels not so much.
@Deimos
remake of Dawn was alright for a horror movie, but ultimately was a letdown as a Romero bred zombie movie.
Day of the Dead was pretty grim in terms of tone, but the movie completely loses it for me anytime the actors speak in that movie. The military forces and the scientist are both so over the top, I feel like I'm watching local theater troupes give their tour de force every time that movie comes on. I'd rather watch 2 straight hours of Dennis Hopper's character from Land than watch the entire cast of Day of the Dead.
Popa. POPA! Go fucking watch Evil Dead. There are NO excuses not to watch it. It's not as though it's hard to find on DVD or anything.
I'll be the one to say it, this looks fucking terrible.
I'm a big Romero (and zombies, in general) fan, and this looks like another MTv generation co-ed slaughter with the now oh-so-vogue documentarian camera style for "edginess". Give me a fucking break. A pack of zombie's ripping someone open and gnawing on their raw entrails is edgy on it's own, thank you.
Mine go:
Night
Day
Dawn
Aaaand I'm sad report I've yet to see Land. I'm working on it.
Series-semi-related movies having little or nothing to do with Romero rank:
Return of the Living Dead ("Send... more... paramedics.")
Dawn of the Dead remake
Night of the Living Dead: 90's remake: Tom Savini edition.
Why do you hate me
I really want to love this movie as it's a George Romero film, but the whole story and way it wants to be like Blair Witch kinda turns me off just a bit. I heard it was pretty good though, so that's the good thing.
@Shipero
Man, I love the Re-Animator especially the part where the decapitated head of that one doctor sexes up a woman. Pure gold.
I thought I saw a trailer for this a long time ago and it looked horrible. Doesn't it have Nick Cannon?
@ShadowXOR
You're thinking of that shitty Day of the Dead remake, which is purely straight to DVD.
Dawn
Day
Dawn (remake)
Land
Night
Oh and peeps who want a quick review of this movie enjoy:
Diary Of The Dead review
There's a chance this could fall apart, I think...
But damn, this really has potential of bringing Romero back in my good books. Diary seems to utilize the small-scale feel that made Night such a damn good film.
I'm really glad that this one has a more personal perspective (pretty much forced by the documentary-style approach) than what was featured in Land of the Dead.
@MrSadistic:
You're right! Whew, I was scared for a second there...now I'll have to watch this trailer when I get home.
I got high hopes for this one. For me it's:
Dawn
Day
Night
Night (1989)
Dawn (2004)
Land
Night 3D (2006) - this was eye bleeding and crap
I absolutely love Zombie movies, but I really can't think of one good one besides Sean of the Dead. The rest are so hamfisted and contrived.
Love the guy, I'm excited to see this.
Though I will admit, I'm a tad worried about that Day Of The Dead Remake. Guess we'll see what happens.
Man, I'm really hoping this is a return to form.
I'm hoping this one is good. I've been craving to see a good zombie movie, and I Am Legend and Land of the Dead have left a sour taste in my mouth. I think the only salvation was seeing Dawn (the remake). I'm going to try and see both Nights, Day, and the original Dawn. To the internet!
Man oh man, I loves me some George A Remero.
But yeah, this looks waaaay better than Land.
Despite the lack of Asia Argento.
Meh, I wish it well, but I have a feeling it will be contrite like the other zombie movies, none of which (save Shaun of the Dead) I have ever really liked.
Now when they make a Walking Dead movie, I'm totally there.
I also love Dennis Hopper, especially for his amazing narration on the song 'Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head' From the Gorillaz album Demon Days. One of my all time favorite bands!
Brilliant!
Heard many good things from Independent Film Fesitivals, it's gonna be a blast.
I'm sure the film is great, but it's the hand-filmed look that's removing this from my "to see" list. Like Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project, I just don't like the style.
