IGN Wii-k in Review Podcat - A Classic Franchise Returning
Smitty3000 | 10:04 AM on 12.01.2007 4 comments

Awhile back Matt was talking about a franchise that would be getting a revival at E3 2007. The event came and went with no announcement, Matt backed up his statement by saying the news was held back for unknown reasons. In this weeks IGN Wii-k in review podcast, Matt brings up the mystery franchise once again.

“A major classic franchise will be returning to Wii. Get excited about the franchise and the people involved.”

That’s about all the detail we have right now, the only thing Matt did say was that the game is not Punch-Out!. Feel free to speculate on the forums.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii) Review
Smitty3000 | 6:39 PM on 11.10.2007 5 comments

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock plays just like its successors, color coordinated notes come towards you; you then hit the corresponding color on the guitar and strum the whammy bar. Sounds pretty easy right? Oh hell no, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a very difficult game, but the difficulty is what will have you coming back time and time again to have your ass handed to you in expert mode.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features a career mode, co-op career, training, quick play, and the ability to face off with friends online by using the Nintendo WFC. Career mode will have you playing shows all over the world and facing off with the likes of Rage Against the Machines Tom Morello and Velvet Revolvers Slash.

Easily the best part of the third installment in the Guitar Hero series is online play. Online play sadly features Nintendo's damned from hell 16 digit friend codes system, but don’t let that turn you away. Online play features three modes all of which will have you coming back for more so you can see your name climbing up the leader board!

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is not going to win any awards for being the Wii’s best looking game. Audiences, stages, and arenas all look very jaggy. Although graphics have never been a big part of the GH series since you’ll be watching the notes at the bottom of the screen. The game also features some very nice color effects and arenas and bars all look very well done.

Moving on now how does the game sound? Well it sounds amazing, and that’s about all you can say. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features a fantastic soundtrack which includes classics like The Rolling Stones – Paint it Black and even more modern bands like The Killers and a slew of others.

So, your most likely wondering how long Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will last you. I’d have to say you will never want to trade this game in. Legends of Rock will always have you coming back for more, with around 70 playable songs, a slew of unlockables, online mode and trying to conquer all of the modes Legends of Rock is an amazing title with tons of replayability.

Overall Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a must own for any Wii owner, it just shows Nintendo loyalists what they were missing last generation. The game features so much content and when you have a friend to play with you Guitar Hero makes for one of the best party games ever. Sadly the Wii version is the only not to feature downloadable content, but the game is $90.00 - $10 less - than its counterparts on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The Good
+Online
+70 plus songs
+A ton of replayability

The Bad
-Graphics look a tad jaggy
-No downloadable content

Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9.5/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Longevity: 9/10
Final Score: 8.5

Manhunt 2 Not to be Sold in Target
Smitty3000 | 5:28 PM on 11.03.2007 6 comments

A close friend of mine who works for Target informed me of this information earlier in the day. According to a notice sent out to Target stores nation wide they have been informed to pull and not sell any copies of Rockstar’s Manhunt 2. The stores are not to sell the game due to the graphic content in the game. Target stores which have not yet received any copies of Manhunt 2 have also been informed to deny accepting the title when the shipment arrives.

Endless Ocean has recieved pretty much zero hype from Nintendo, yet it's one of the Wii's best looking games. The game comes out August 2nd in Japan and October 29th in US. One Famitsu reviewer gave Endless Ocean a perfect 10/10. Here are the rest of the scores:

Endless Ocean - 10/8/9/8

I can't f'ing wait for this one to release, anyone else interested?
