Thank you! I thought I was the only person not all crazy about that game. I found it to be one of the most frustrating demos that I've ever came across. If you're a little off with your aim (which I was constantly), then you get to wait for half an hour for the little guy to land again just so you could repeat the process all over again. It's like Ghosts and Goblins in super-slow motion, but without the fun.

Give the controler a quick shake and your character will shoot straight downward. Most people forget you can do this.
Burnout Paradise is only $29.99 now, and it's lots of fun.
Ratchet and Clank always delivers, Uncharted is great, and if you like SRPGs, Disgaea 3 will own your soul.

Burnout Paradise is my crack. Soul Calibur IV, Disgaea 3 and Folklore are all highly recommended; I'd also recommend Hot Shots Golf, if you like that sort of thing. If you like fighters, import the Asian version of Battle Fantasia. As for downloads, Bionic Commando: Rearmed is amazing. I love PixelJunk Monsters in co-op. It pisses me off in single player.
Cheapassgamer.com has a 25% off used games coupon that expires tomorrow. I used it to get Hot Shots for $35 and Heavenly Sword for $25. Use it.

The complaint about Pixeljunk Eden where "if you miss, you have to wait a half hour to fall and get back up" is dumb. That's what the sixaxis quick-drop ability is for. If you know you're going to overshoot your target, push the PS3 controller down and your guy will shoot downwards really fast. Don't hate on the game because you can't control it, because the controls are great.
What brainderailment and balth said. Also Heavenly Sword is a good rental or pick it up used on the cheap with DMC4 as well.
I'm going to keep the list as small as possible since you probably don't want to spend $500 more on games right away.

GRID (forget Burnout Paradise, it's not as good if you want to actually race other people)
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (for the best PS3 graphics, but driving is a little messed up & so is online ATM. they're promising to patch it w/ damage later though so it might be worth buying now)
Now games if I were you I'd wait on since they'll probably be dropping 30-50% in price in the next couple months.
