What does focus do with the alien? How do you use my weapons when im predator? Im a total noob at this game but It's fun but a lot of people quit midgame if you get a decent lead.
If your a predator you can hold left trigger to find weapons. When you find them use them with right trigger.
Focus makes the alien run really fast; probably three times as fast if you want to get specific. Focus, run and then leap and attack while in the air for major damage.
I recommend checking out the control options for the Predator, as there are a number of keys you will want to memorize. There you can customize what key will equip what weapon.

It should also be noted for those who haven't really noticed, the Xenomorph has a jump like the Predators, where you can leap to the place your crosshair is pointing to. Use this to leap around walls and on to the ceiling while approaching your enemy, don't just run at them.
Good info; fap'd because more people need to really understand this game.
For those of you seeking some additional information, look here. I covered some basic information and tactics as well; how to find weapons as a predator, how to use them (it's more complicated on the PC version, on the 360 it's just right-trigger), how to refill your energy after expending it, and so on. Don't forget to check the comments for some great tips by Micki, like how to get free when you're grabbed from the front (NOT FROM THE BACK).

Very VERY good beginner's guide to a very tight and epic multiplayer I haven't seen capable of being pulled off in ages.
I haven't enjoyed one as much as this since fucking Area 51's 6th gen console remake. It's that decently balanced and awesome.

Great read. I've won multiple matches as all three races. It's a game about opportunism, which I don't think a lot of players are getting.
I've won quite a few as the alien, but I think it's great how every class reflects a certain play-style (alien=stealth, marine=ranged, and predator=gamble).
Ah yes, another good point from Blindfires comments. All of the Marines weapons have an alternate fire mode; I'm pretty sure the default key is MOUSE 2/Right Click.
For instance, the Pistol burst fires, the Shotgun fires 2 shells at once, the Pulse Rifle has an under-barrel grenade launcher, etc.

The mentality of the FPS community seems to be "if it's not run and gun, it's not fun". This game is alot more than Run and Gun, so people don't like it. Shame...
Focus + Jump as an Alien (X/A on the consoles. If A is the equivalent of X on a 360, I haven't memorised the button names yet) is kind of the equivalent of the Alien Pounce from AvP2.

sometimes i'll just follow a pred around and wait til he engages something else before i jump in and finish him off.
marines are generally lambs unless they've figured out out to block and counter -- or where the grenade spawns are.
fawking love this game.

I'm glad you guys understand the game and love it already. Cause I sure as hell do. I seriously can't wait for the retail version. I'm pretty sure I'll play this game like a mofo. FOR AWHILE.
I'm pretty unimpressed with the alien tbh. It doesn't wall walk right, and it has issues on rounded surfaces. Just doesn't seem very polished at all. It's not as bad as the flamethrower though :P
I love the Xenomorph. But I think the Predator is WAY WAY WAY too overpowered. I get it, technology and all that, but my God.
Nice job scribble.
Can the marine's pulse rifle scope? If it's in there, I was too stupet to figure it out.
Also once the full game is out, which system are you playing on?

@D-Nez: I'll be playing on PC for sure. No way I can be a good Xenomorph with analogue sticks; it's way to fast and hectic. Also there is a Single Shot Rifle with a scope that you can find in the Alien nest area of the demo level; it's extremely powerful.
@Dao2-SKP: The wall walk is fine, the Xenomorph just can't transition from suface to surface if it's great than about a 90* angle. Like I mention in the tips, use your jumping ability to pounce from wall, to ceiling, to floor; you move faster and more directly using the pounce instead of the run anyway.
@Pedrovay2003: I do agree, the Predator is slightly overpowered when it comes to close encounters, but thats half the fun really. Taking down an invisible, alien hunter is not easy, so when you do it it's really satisfying.

@Skribble
I suppose that's true, never thought of it like that. I just can't believe he can jump pretty much everywhere, stay cloaked indefinitely if you don't attack, and that boomerang thing of theirs is NUTS. Tons of fun to play, but wow.
