So I haven't done many productive things lately, with the small exception of working on my game design document every now and then. But every now and then I also take small stabs at my game engine, to refine things I've done or add in new elements. Well I recently pretty much overhauled the engine, gave it a new lick of paint, added in some new stuff and I wanted to show you guys what it's like now.
Dog's make a game better, right?
To anybody who read my blog,
oh about half a year ago, about how I was starting on a new game, It's taken this long to do this much because I literally do about an hour of work on it every 2 weeks lol. I'm that lazy, but it's getting there, and it's the most I can bear doing when I work with Flash at my JOB all day long; and when you compare this to what it
used to look like, I think you can see all the work that went in to this, even if it was spread across 6 months ^__^
Anyway, If you care to take a look, then simply follow this link:
Skribbles Beat'em Up/Adventure Engine
Controls are as follows:
W,S,A,D - Movement controls
F - Duck (double tap to prone/ tap while ducking to stand up)
J - Attack (tap 3 times to combo)
J - Hold while running - Action roll
K - Jumping
T - Toggle textures
E - Spawn Enemy
R - Spawn Pet (follows you around)
You can also
make it rain by using CONTROL and SHIFT to increase and decrease the amount of rain, then you can use the DIRECTIONAL ARROWS to adjust the rains speed and direction.
P.S.: All controls, characters, gameplay and graphics are no indication of what the final product will be like, so no need for crits just yet; save them for when I get you to test the beta for me.
Keep up the good work!!! It is seriously looking and playing pro, even at this stage.
I havent even finished the engine, let alone started animating and drawing the content. Good news is my friend is doing music for me and he's pretty much an 80's analogue electro master, so at least the game will SOUND good heh.
