Puzzle Quest costs 1200 points and uses my free graphics
Sinnix | 7:50 AM on 10.11.2007 8 comments

I love Puzzle Quest. I already owned it for my PSP and yesterday when it was released on XBLA temptation got the better of me and I purchased it almost immediately... even at the painful price of 1200 MS points (which, as was widely covered yesterday, is like a million dollars up here in Canada).

Later in the evening I was watching my better half play the game when she suddenly decided that she didn't like the Druid class and wanted to roll a new character.

DO YOU WANT TO QUIT THE GAME
[A] YES ----- [B] NO

wtf?

ZOMG!!!

Sitting there innocently representing the A and B buttons were the graphics that I created to help out the XNA community. After this my eyes were wide open and searched every screen... all the button graphics throughout the entire game were my own little creations.

I suppose I shouldn't be shocked. The buttons are the most popular download, and are freely available on my downloads page. http://www.360prophecy.com/site/downloads/

And while I never expect any monetary gain for doing any community work (I volunteer my time to MS for the comic), I kinda feel like a game in the top tier of pricing on XBOX Live should probably have paid a professional to make their graphics for them and not used free stuff from the web.

Of course... compared to my awesome set, they probably would have been ass anyway.

See you on Live,
Jeff

Personally, I'm so vain that I think I'd get a huge kick out of them using my stuff. It's too bad they aren't throwing some bucks your way. They owe you a free download at the least.

While you did make them freely available to download, I would think they should give you something for your work. Perhaps you should give the devs a quick ring and ask them to compensate you in some way (or at least include you in the credits).

Wow, that's really cool and yet kinda unfortunate that you don't get any credz.

Ha. That's pretty cool. Hopefully you're at least in the credits.

That's awesome and would have freaked me out. I'd buy it just because of that.

Yeah, you definitely deserve to be in the credits.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
