I’m coming up soon on my 1 year anniversary of being a Destructoid community member, and recently I’ve been thinking a lot about all the experiences I’ve had on this site over the past year. One thing I’ve noticed is that the longer I’ve been here, the more I’ve started noticing a pattern to all the stuff that occurs on the weekly basis in the cblogs. I’ve realized that there are really a lot of things that are almost guaranteed to happen here on the blogs on a weekly basis. Some of these things infuriate me, but most just make me laugh and/or shake my head every time they occur. I’ve decided to sit down and list out the top 20 things that seem, at least to me to me, to occur on a weekly basis here in the cblogs. Maybe you’ll agree with me, or maybe you’ll think I’m just full of crap. You’ll only know if you read them yourselves. Check them out below. Please note that these are in no particular order. 1) An old member of the community posts something that appears to be a fail blog, but that is really absolutely hilarious, and all of the older members get it, and all of the newer members comment saying “get the fuck out”. 2) Someone posts a news story which is almost an identical plagiarized version of the same news story recently posted on Kotaku. 3) NihonTiger90 writes a great blog about the current state of the gaming industry in the failing economy and no one comments. 4) Yojimbo writes an awesome blog about absolutely anything, including gaming while going to the bathroom, and it’s an instant hit that 75 people comment. Oh how we all love that old bearded man! 5) Someone comments on a blog saying “This belongs in the forums” and a bunch of forum posters get justifiably angry that the forums continue to be thought of as that deep dark place where bad blogs should go to die a slow and ever agonizingly painful death. . 6) A new member decides to list their top 25 games of all time, with each game having its own individual blog, each of which is posted every other day, which ends up spanning the length of 8 gruelingly long weeks. 7) Someone posts a blog that is simply a link to another blog. These people then go an crawl back under the rock they came from. 8) Someone posts a video which was already posted at least twice that same day by other community members, because they didn’t pay any attention what-so-ever. 9) Aborto Thefetus posts his weekly “10 Things I Learned This Week” feature on Friday, which is usually followed up by someone else who wants to get in the action who posts their own lame “10 Things I Learned This Week” feature.
10) Someone with no avatar posts a great blog, and more people comment about the fact the person has no avatar, then the amount of people who actually comment on the content of the blog itself. 11) A Sony fanboy posts a flame blog stating all the old and played out reasons why he/she hates the XBOX360. 12) A Microsoft fanboy posts a flame blog stating all the old and played out reasons why he/she hates the PS3. 13) Someone who has no affiliation to any other console what-so-ever posts a flame blog stating all the old and played out reasons why he/she hates the Wii. 14) Someone posts an absolutely incredible blog, which absolutely no one reads. This is probably the most dissapointing thing on this entire list. 15) Someone posts a picture of a cat playing video games, which is just so damn cute all you can do is say “Awwwwwwww” out loud.
16) Someone with absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever posts video game art drawn exclusively in MS Paint that is absolutely horrendous, but that at the same time is completely awesome! 17) Someone writes a blog about World of Warcraft which is completely ignored by 99.99% of the community. 18) A new female member posts her first blog in which she shows off some hot pictures of herself and it immediately gets 100+ comments, half of which are from horny guys who are trying to impress her with their elite commenting skills. The girl ends up leaving the community within a week. [Note: This hasn’t actually happened in a while, but it used to happen a lot]. 19) One of Dtoid’s staff posts a community blog that’s not part of a Meme …. maybe … 20) Someone writes a drunk blog, and wakes up the next day regretting it. There’s a 1% chance that this person woke up beside someone else of the opposite sex. If they actually did, then there's approximately a 0.001% chance they got laid by that person.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

I guess it's a good thing I don't recognize myself in most things. Although it sometimes takes me forever to create something and it gets very little comments. Actually that happened only once and that was probably because I published the blog around at 6 am EST.
I'm getting close to my 2nd year anniversary and I'm planning a blog with what Dtoid did for me and what I did for Dtoid. It's gonna be quite interesting. At least that's what I think looking back.
Finally I would like to say that your presence on Destructoid is much appreciated.
22. Someone writes a blog linking to their other blog out side of Dtoid.
23. Someone new writes four to five consecutive blogs because they think in their peanut shaped brain that we love spam.
24. Someone writes a blog detailing a chat log they had in IRC that's a zillion lines long and supposedly epic.
25. Rev Anthony will write a cblog telling you about a piece he did elsewhere and how you need to check it out.
26. Niero on occasion will write his usual awesome cblog.
27. Jim gets it in his head that your life needs pornographic MS Paint doodles and makes a blog about it.
28. K. Nanbu will be his usual lovable douchebag self in somebody's blog via their comments.
29. Blogs with numbers in their actual title will be too many to count.
30. SilverDragon calls forth for more quality writing in the cblogs on his recaps and people will blow him off.
I got more but I'll stop it there. :)
Sweet list, SilverDragon.
No, good sir, it's GTFO, l33t speak, n00b. :P
'4) Yojimbo writes an awesome blog about absolutely anything, including gaming while going to the bathroom, and it’s an instant hit that 75 people comment. '
Well yes, he talks about anything due to his AGE, GAWD. He gets so many comments because people feel sorry for him being so FREAKIN' old. (JK, much >3 Jimbo, honest)
'16) Someone with absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever posts video game art drawn exclusively in MS Paint that is absolutely horrendous, but at the same time in completely awesome! '
Atlas does that, to brilliant effect.
'18) A new female members posts a her first blog in which she shows off some hot pictures of herself and it immediately gets 100+ comments, half of which are from horny guys who are trying to impress her with their elite commenting skills. The girl ends up leaving the community within a week. [Note: This hasn’t actually happened in a while, but it used to happen a lot].'
Najdariot comes to mind, what was it? 250 comments?? Something jaw dropppingly incredible like that.
Also, fun fact, see that pic you posted with the PS3 on top of the 360? Well I did that with a relatively new, expensive enough, HDMI enabled DVD player.
But I did it to save space for about six months, and when I used that DVD player, it would'nt work. I didn't bother using it for the past six months and the weight of the PS3 killed it. No I am not joking, that's how heavy it is. It seemed that the top of the case of it was slightly crushed and the dvd drive messed up.
So kids, never put that hulking great big black beast called the PS3 on top of other dvd platers or consoles, they will falter under it's weight. :)
I thinks that's worse.
#69) While Niero is playing with (read: fucking with) site, someone posts a blog about how it's broken and the members on at the time comment saying apocalyptical things.
236?? Dude, where has the 205 things between what Jimbo said and what you said gone??
WHERE I DEMAND, WHERE???
Are....are you the real face behind Dtoid, the overlord of it?
I knew only a crazy dutch bastard can be cunning enough to dupe millions of people into thinking that Niero is the founder of Destructoid, whereas all along it was you!!
;)
@Silver
LOL, I do.
#3OH3) Someone posts a blog that has spoilers, and everyone complains that now the game is ruined for them because of that blog. Then it turns into a Meme, and everyone is happy again.
#238)Magnalon self-polices shit blogs, and gets some "you suck, there's no such thing as a TOS LOL" and some "right on" comments.
I think the saddest one of all though, is the new #237 SilverDragon just came up with. If I see a new intro, I'll post "welcome". I won't even post "don't suck", because odds are, if the first blog didn't suck, they won't. Everyone should make an effort to welcome new members! You never know when a new blogging gem could pop up!
I also think #1 is pretty funny, but a lot of times they are in fact, failblogs, we just act like they aren't ;-)
#453) New members signing up saying "They've been lurking for a long time now".
To be honest, I don't really get the whole lurking. I mean it doesn't take more than a couple days to see this is a community you want to be involved with or not. And if that's after months, what made them to suddenly want to get involved? I'm not saying that I care of dislike it. I just don't understand it really.
I can't count anymore. I'm creating a new LBP level with a lot of mathematics involved.
#???) Some Dutch wanker completely disregards the subject of the blog and starts a conversation with someone in the comments.
Indeed. That's why I try to read the recaps everyday, since it is easy to miss top notch blogs. There are far to many good blogs that get lost amongst the nonsense or rehashed content.
LMAO Oh, and
#LOLOMFGWTFBBQ??) Mushman is GUARAN-DAMN-TEED to have a varitey of spelling (or !speeling--) mistakes in most of his comments, hey I have retarded, disobedient hands, what can I say??
Oh and yeah, I type far too much sometimes. :D
No you didn't. I read and posted on your latest blog. :)
I wanted to say that too. The amount of variations of the word Destructoid by your hand is amazing!
#14, is a shame but it happends.
Called it!
"#???) Some Dutch wanker completely disregards the subject of the blog and starts a conversation with someone in the comments."
#666 People who whine and bitch about the forums are crap and worthless and their last activity there is from 8-10 months ago.
People posting a blog with something like Failblog in the title or their first line of text is: "OK, I know this is a failblog ..." I hate that shit! If you know you're doing something you shouldn't and you're even telling us you know,(exactly like I did just now) why the fuck did you do it in the first place? Juat don't do it! Acknowledging the fact that you wrote a failblog doesn't make it OK.
Plus people leaving their blog up while acknowledging the information in that particular blog is fail, wrong or whatever. If it sucks: Hide it!
YEAH,
HAHAHHA. I'm in tears man at your last comment. Preach on man!
I hate so much how people post "I know I'm sucking" or "this is a failblog LOL". Are you that attention starved?! Also, it's funny to see these blogs:
Fail Blogger: "LOL I made a failblog"
Community: "This blog sucks, hide this shit"
Fail Blogger: "O rly? I'm sorryz dtoid community, I didn't mean for this post to be so bad"
::::2 hours later it's still not hidden::::
I have however talked about a subject someone else posted about because I didn't realise but found out so I hid it.
Thanks, dude
Yeah, dude - Mostly true.
Unfortunately.
That's the wonderful world of the interweb for ya.
What can ya do?
Not a damn thing.
Just gotta deal with it...
