Can you feel it? That desire to kill, to drive your sword deep into your enemy, ripping him limb from limb? I know you can feel it, because after all you are mortal and killing is what you mortals do best. I of course am not mortal, I’m a dragon. Yes we dragons do fight, but we are much better watchers, and I have been watching you mortals for a very long time. You see I was there in the beginning, back when it all started on November 23, 2004. I watched as you all decided to leave your families and friends behind and enter the great war. Some of you chose to become mages, warriors, warlocks, or hunters, while other of you chose to become priests, druids, or rogues. A select few chose to become paladins or shamans, but their numbers were not as many, for only the bravest souls felt the calling of the light and the land. With your class decided you began your training near your capitol city. You learned to fight, to kill, to survive, and even to protect. Some of you even learned how to fish, but I will not discuss such a trivial past time, for we dragons have still not mastered the art of fishing. Just as you were beginning to master the most basic skills you were immediately thrust out into the world to fight. If you were a Troll, Orc, Undead, or Tauren you fought on the side of the Horde. If you were human, night elf, dwarf, or gnome you fought on the Alliance. It did not matter what your heart told you, your allegiance was to the Horde or the Alliance and there was no switching sides. To do so was considered treasonous and you would be immediately killed. This of course rarely happened because the races of the Alliance and Horde held such tremendous hatred toward each other. They desired nothing more then to see the other wiped off the face of the planet.
What’s interesting is that it was not always this way. There was a time, during the 3rd war, that the races of the Horde and Alliance worked together to destroy the Burning Legion. It was a glorious thing to see both sides join forces to destroy the Burning Legion, a malevolent force determined to engulf the entire world in flames. Time erases all memories though, and soon after defeating the great evil, the Horde and Alliance were back to fighting again, which is ,after all, why you joined to fight in the great war. As I said, I have been watching you all a long time. I watched as you progressed your characters to level 60 and began venturing into the great dungeons of Blackrock Spire, Stratholme, and Scholomance. As you became even more powerful I saw you enter Molten Core to take on the great fire God Ragnaros, and then Blackwing Lair to take on the great black dragon Nefarion, the son of the mighty Deathwing. I also saw you kill Blackwing’s other daughter Onyxia, and let me just say that all of my fellow dragon brethren, including myself, appreciate you killing those vile creatures. We have all breathed a sigh of relief watching you extinguish their evil souls into the twisted nether. Let me get back to my story though. You have to excuse me. You see us dragons have a very hard time keeping a straight train of thought. We also have a very hard time listening. As I’ve already stated though, we are very good watchers, and I was watching very closely as the dark portal to Draenor was opened and you all took your first steps into that forsaken world. Yes it appeared that the Burning Legion had returned and it was up to you and all of your brothers in arms to fight them back once again. It was not an easy fight however. Illidan Stormrage was determined to slay you all, and send your souls shrieking in agony to the twisting nether, but you did not let that hinder you. Together you fought bravely and fiercely and eventually you destroyed the great Illidan and all of his evil allies. With victory in hand many of you decided to put down your weapons and go back to a life of peace. You returned to your families and your friends who were eagerly awaiting your return. You ate and drank heartily, and you talked of all the great battles you fought and won, purposely deciding not to mention all the failed battles and brave friends you had lost along the way. You took up your old lives and your old professions, but something constantly ate away at you. Deep down you knew you did not belong in this boring life of trivial day-to-day exercises. You yearned for battle, for the gratifying feeling of thrusting you sword through your enemy’s chest, watching the life drain out of his eyes. Well your wait is over.
A great evil has risen up once again to threaten the land. The great Lich King Arthas is preparing to unleash his army of undead from his Icecrown Citadel in Northrend upon the inhabitants of Azeroth. Soon every living being on this planet, from the Orcs to the Humans, will be in peril. You see the Lich King does not know mercy. He does not know compassion. He killed his own father in cold blood, and since then all he has done is spread death and terror throughout the world. He will bring and end to this planet, and see it all turned to ice and death if he is not stopped. What’s worse is he is not the only threat to this great land. The powerful blue dragon aspect Malygos is also threatening to destroy the world. He has gone crazy and decided that the mortal races must be destroyed for what he considers to be reckless use of the arcane magics. He is building an army and is tapping into the arcane powers of the world himself, hoping to destroy us all. Alexstrasza, the great red dragon aspect and giver of life, is putting together an army of dragons to stop him, but we won’t be enough. We need your help. We cannot possibly hope to fight both of these great evils, Arthas and Malygos, on our own. We need you to pick up your swords, daggers, bows, guns, and staves and come join the fight. We need your passion, your bravery, your strength, and most of all your will to fight. It is the only way we can possibly hope to stop the evil from consuming the entire world in darkness. You are the light that can destroy the darkness. You are the great beacon of hope.
Now you are probably asking yourself, what is Silverdragon going to do? Well you see I’m really more a lover, not a fighter. I will continue to watch as I’ve always done, because let me tell you there is a great view from up here. When I am needed I will come and join the fight, but not before then. No for now my place is on the sidelines, watching and hoping as you all battle the great forces of evil. When you are on the battlefield look for me up in the sky, because you never know when I’ll decide to drop in and join the fight. The drums of war are beating a call to arms. Will you join and fight, or watch if all burn?
