The Metal Gear universe created by Kojima is one of the richest and most complex gaming universes of all time. It spans from 1964 to 2014 over a total of 9 games (not counting the remakes) and a couple of online comics. Only the most hardcore of the hardcore has actually played all these games and read the online comics. I consider myself a hardcore Metal Gear fan and even I have only played 7 of the 9 games and read 1 of the online comics. Even if you have played all the games, it’s pretty hard to have a clear grasp on every little thing that has happened in the Metal Gear universe
To help catch you up on the 50 year story arc, Gametrailers.com has created an incredible 20 minute educational video. If you haven’t started playing MGS4 yet, or if you have and you are just interested in what events have led up to MGS4, I recommend you check out the video below. All I have to say is Kojima truly knows how to weave a story together like no one else. He is one of the great gaming genius’s of our time.

When it comes to video games I am obsessive-compulsive about beating them. If I start a game I must finish it. No matter how bad, or how hard it is I will not rest until the ending credits have rolled across the screen. Like Bruce Hornsby says ... that's just the way it is!

Hey, thanks for making this available. I've kept up with the games pretty well, but as complicated as it is, I think I might need a refresher.
I saw this earlier on today but my God I'd forgotten how confusing the story of MGS is.
