This may or may not be illegal but OHWELL. Since I'm working off the premise you have the disks already, you own the game so as long as you don't share it around, it's alright. And since I've heard a few people saying they don't know how to do it a while back I wrote this.
First off, you need a PS1 emulator. I use two. One for my PC (
http://www.epsxe.com/) and one for my PSP (You'll need a Pandora battery to be able to give your PSP the ability to run these games, and I can't help you with that. You'll need to buy one or get a friend who has one to set it up for you).
Then, you'll need a ripping program. I use ISOBuster.
Download here.
You will also, if you plan to make the games you rip available on your PSP, need a program called PSX2PSP. It's very hard to find, so I've uploaded the latest version
here.
Now, what you need to do.
STEP 1. Get a PSX disk. For the purpose of this guide, I'm using the PSX game Psychic Force.
STEP 2. Put the disk in your computer, and run ISOBuster. When it loads, it should display a screen that has various options on it, and a display of all the files found on the disk. It will look a little like this.
CD
---Session 01
---Track 01
---(iso) PSYCHIC FORCE
---(whatever files are on the disk you're using)
What you need to do here, is RIGHT-CLICK on the part titled CD. Hover over "Extract CD <Image>" and in the drop-down menu it offers, select the last option "RAW (*.bin *.iso)".

Once this finishes, all you have to do is open your PSX emulator and load the .iso and you're off!
For playing this game on a PSP console, you need to do a little extra. You need to run PSX2PSP (Provided above). I would say run it in "theme mode" for ease of use. Once you've loaded it, simply hit "convert menu" and find your .iso of the game you want. Then, select the folder the new file will be placed.
Hit Convert.
There you go! One EBOOT.pbp file ready to be placed onto your PSP. Keep in mind that you need CUSTOM FIRMWARE to do this. I use a PSP updated via Pandora battery, but there are many ways for you to do it.
All you need to do now, is find the location of your new game, and copy it to your PSP memory card. However, you need ALL of it.
COPY this file, in its entirety.
PASTE it into your GAME folder on your memory stick.
FINALLY.
PSYCHIC FORCE is on your PSP!
Note: This DOES NOT work with multi-disk games. I'm sorry, no Final Fantasy 7 on your PSP. Also, Resident Evil does not work. It requires a different type of formatting, which I'm not prepared to do.
END.
