Honestly, I think Perez's comments were pretty damn stupid since he's an intern and a public figure.

But personally, I have always failed to see the appeal Felicia Day has, and have considered her success a bit of an unexplained anomaly. So I can see both sides really.

But the way he brought it up, and the whole way he want about it was definitely ... bad.

He can criticize her all he wants, but how he said it was sexist.

How was it sexist? Because of the "booth babe" bit? The entire industry seems OK with having booth babes.

Considering Ryan Perez as a writer, I don't think we have lost all that much. He has done about 3 or 4 originals and I didn't really like any of them.
As a person he probably didn't deserve this though, especially when a clear apology could have sufficed.

It sucks when you do a mistake on the internet, because people are so, so much slower to forget or forgive it. Ryan WAS being an asshole, and you should never direct things like these at one person. But it's still sad that this is probably going to haunt him for the rest of his career, if he even stays in games writing that is.

The point people seem to miss is Perez took this comment to Felicia Day rather. He threw it in her face.

If someone came up to you and ask why the hell you mattered, you'd probably be a bit hurt, too. I personally don't see the appeal of Day's work or why people make her a target. She's a pretty nerd. That's about all I can say. I didn't like The Guild.

@ Silent - If I'm not mistaken he claimed to have sent it as a personal message unintentionally. Like he meant to make a general statement, not present it to her directly. I find this believable because I have no idea how Twitter works either.

Destructoid, like every other company in the world, has an image it wants to maintain, and attacking other people for the hell of it isn't in the job description when you're a writer here.

Perez would have gotten fired from ANY job for publicly saying what he did. This isn't just a Destructoid thing.
