About
Name's Ozz, I'm 23 and hail from Southern Ontario, Canada. Tetris broke my gaming cherry back in '89, thanks to Game Boy, and I've been obsessed with gaming since '98.
My favourite console would be the Nintendo 64, and favourite game is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Aside from Zeldas, my favourite genre is First Person Shooters (Specifically old-school, DOOM, Duke Nukem 3D).

So DESTRUCTOID fires Ryan Perez because he voiced his opinion on Felicia Day on Twitter. Yet every chance they get, they make fun of Bobby Kotick and Michael Patcher. I'm not even going to single out Jim Sterling doing this, because we all know Bobby and Michael are brainless tards.

So Destructoid, the most opinionated gaming site on the net, has fired someone for having a negative opinion against someone, because the victim was a girl. That's the only difference between her, Bobby and Michael.

So much for equal rights, eh? Fuck your white knight horse shit.
I expected better from Dtoid management, a lot better.

Actually, if you had done some research like I did.. It was Ryan himself who stepped down. :)

The whole thing is kinda confusing, Ryan didn't call her anything sexist and he has a point, Day is just another pretty face that got very popular thanks to legions of virgins.

Meanwhile Sterling has said FAR worse things to women but he's still on the payroll.
Sadly Kyo.. it wasn't Felicia Day who riled up the hornets.. it was Wil Wheaton. Ryan say something stupid in a drunken post 22 hours before someone named Veronica linked it to Wil Wheaton.. who in turn riled up everyone.
It was just a matter of time before Destructoid became "just another game site"
@ Furyfire - Thanks for posting that, it really does change things. Always good to have a bit of actual information along with the mountain of opinions.
@FuryFire: I'm sure it was heavily implied that his dismissal was imminent either way. And even if it wasn't, the follow up tweet from Dtoid was ridiculous.
Yea he didn't step down voluntarily, he was told to do so.
Woooooow, really Destructoid? Felicia Day, whose claim to fame is making a mini-series based off MMO's (not any in particular, just them in general), is a sacred cow? I would have to agree, she's contributed essentially nothing, unless you count voice acting in Rock of the Dead as something worthwhile.
I was never a fan of Ryan Perez's writing. I recall an article he did where he aimed to dismiss the opinions of anyone who wished to discuss games as an art form, and was somewhat made indifferent to his existance as a writer from then on.

However, it does seem like an instance where an awkward exchange between two people has been blown out of proportion by whistle blowers to a celebrity, which is probably the real reason Ryan and/or Destructoid decided it best to part ways. The likes of Will Wheaton and Adam Baldwin intervening and blowing it way out of proportion would not do this rather fine site we're currently on much good. So I feel kind of bad for Ryan, who made a pretty bad mistake, and now probably won't work for an established gaming press outlet again, all due to a misguided and silly night and some childish behaviour after.

I did laugh at Ryans response to Adam Baldwin on twitter. "Holy Shit, you're the guy from Full Metal Jacket. It's an honour to get attacked by you sir!"
I'm Ryan Perez.

Wait, are we not doing the Spartacus thing on this one?
You know, now that I'm hearing he directly sent the message to her, I consider that a bad move by Perez. He should have relayed his criticisms differently. But the actual content of the message would be hard to call "vicious", so I still think he shouldn't have been fired (AKA "stepped down").
