Oh I watch heroes as well, its awesome. Except for the fact that the writers strike has pretty much ended season 2 halfway. Lame!
I think the games main problem in conveying the story well is that, Altair is just a bland character, the voice actor for him is just lame, he talks like a teleprompter with a voice.

Waaaaaaay better than Heroes. I still watch Heroes but dammit if it doesn't suck balls. Great concept, flawed execution.

I don't think the ending is as bad as people are saying but I still wasn't satisfied with it. Mostly because it ends (or doesn't really) so anti-climatically after that last boss fight. It leaves you with this cliffhangerish ending that really just feels more like the beginning of the next mission (without the mission) rather than an actual end. It's just sort of over.
I AM interested to see what they do next though.
