Gaming is a rather large part of
my life. Out of all my online
activities, 40% of them - an actual percentage from actual scientists - are related to video games in some way. I enjoy them, they amuse me, they keep me from getting high with hookers - they're a good thing. (Though, the last reason might actually hurt that conclusion.) I just don't usually expect them to spill over into my other interests.
While catching up on some movie news at Rotten Tomatoes, my RSS reader burst at the seams with quantities of The Chobot that reached oceanic proportions... or they just mentioned her in
an article about
Tron mastermind Steven Lisberger's upcoming project. No, she's not having little cyber-babies with the gloriously-bearded writer/director. She merely inspired his next mov- Wait. What? Yeah. She, uh, totally just helped him with the idea for his next project. Damn. To quote the
original article:
"Lisberger will direct the story of a tech pioneer who has perfected a way to download and transfer a person's memory. Script examines what happens when her memory is placed into a much younger woman's body."
It's a bit early to tell, of course, but it sounds like it actually might not suck. I'm a bit of a
Tron fanboy, so I'm willing to give any project of Lisberger's the benefit of the doubt. Apparently, Jessica met up with him at a
Tron screening (What? Where? Invite me next time, k?) and they began talking, as intelligent, sentient forms of life are want to do. She urged him to write about a woman's perspective on the magical, mystical world of cyberspace. Lisberger apparently appreciated the fact that Jessica's perspective was that of an audience member and not a "film person," found her ideas intriguing, and wished to subscribe to her newsletter. Thus, the project was born. A
Tronesque world from a female perspective? Yes, please. I'll take two.
The project has the William-Shatner-
novel-like title of
Soul Code and does not currently have a timeframe for... well, anything really. And why do I imagine a
short-haired Natalie Portman starring? Oh well. Jessica Chobot:
Screenwriter? Scary but intriguing.
I'd hit it.
That's her cue to show up and make me feel perverted
Just putting it out there.
On a completely irrelevant side note: I love ted :D
