If I recall correctly, Sakurai said there would be a max of three third-party characters in Brawl since he wanted to keep the focus on Nintendo. We already have two characters that are pretty epic...will there be a third? Personally, I'm skeptical.
If my vote counted I would give it to one of the epic vampire slayers from the Castlevania series, though the popular vote seems to be Mega Man. Inafune said he wasn't in Brawl a few months ago...I doubt they had enough time to put him in, and why they would wait so long to add him would be beyond me. Mega Man is probably out, in my opinion. If it isn't Mega Man, who do you think the most likely candidate is for that third slot, or do you think they just stuck with Snake and Sonic in the end?
What do you guys think of Inafune saying he had not been asked yet a few months ago...doesn't that seem like if they included him they cut it DAMN close and just rushed him out at the end? How would they have time to balance that?
I think there are at least six unlockable characters, four of which will be returning from Smash 64/Melee.
That leaves at least two more...in my opinion, possibly even more. Melee had 26, though some of those were clones. Right now Brawl has 24 original characters so it's still a lot but Sakurai loves putting in secret characters, so I don't see why he would reveal the whole roster.
Also, he said that playing online will reveal secret characters you haven't unlocked yet...so we know there is more to see.
Hey, as long as it's not a shitty guy like Master Chief, or some really obscure character, I'll be happy... But Megaman woudl still be an amazing addition!
Just cause some game developer says no, doesn't mean it is NO.
I know that just sounds stupid but how many times was Sonic denied? They say no cause they have to cause afradadums that I can't spell and legal agreements on who gets to announce what and when.
I'd like to see some 3rd party assist trophies. Like a Katamari one or another that summons the Contra guys to blow the hell out of everything with the spreadgun.

I meant to type "some more 3rd party assist trophies". Unfortunately, my fingers were uncooperative. I've had assist trophies on mind since last weekend when my friend and I were discussing what we thought some interesting ones would be.
I'm sure he probably saved a few surprise third-party assist trophies for us...hopefully! Either way I'm pretty damn pleased with the game as it is, not counting all the levels, characters, Pokemon, trophies, etc. that we have yet to see. This game is epic through and through.
the only problem I have with this is the simple online setup they have. I'm glad it's still prepped for online play, but the layout just looks and throws itself out as too simple. Just like a DS game with random search, friend search, and that's it. Granted, you'll easily find ao many people online, it just feels like it wasn't fully thought out.
and i'm sure most of the online expanding is mainly cause of those damn long ass friend codes.
I think the generic mode where you have no contact with anyone and can't even tell if you're playing with a CPU is made of fail.
However I know a ton of people getting Brawl (everyone should) so I'll be adding lots of friends, and that should allow full/normal functionality. I'll just use my Xbox 360 or PC to set up voice chat with my friends ahead of time. Is it a pain in the ass? Yes...but better than nothing!
Viewtiful Joe dammit. His special Smash could be a time freeze, where he's allowed to accumulate abunch of damage on suckers that are frozen... or something.
I like the Mega Man idea, however, as I've said from waaaay back, my favorite alternate character would be Vector Man from the Sega Genesis days. I admit it's HIGHLY unlikely he'll be in seeing as Sonic is already holding it down for Sega, but I can still dream.
On the realistic side of things, I think Mega Man is still a safe bet, however if all the "He's not in it" talk is true, then I'd go with Viewtiful Joe.
How about the Akihiko from Persona 3? He can box people all different ways and then shoot himself to release his persona for all different sorts of attacks. Eh eh?

Should be Richter... I've wanted him in it since they announced Snake would be in it.
Whoever it is, their theme can't just be "fighting", they need some weird quirk or interesting gameplay addition.
I.e., Sonic has speed, and Snake has stealth and explosives.

The creator said he hasnt been asked if megaman can appear and he said he's not in brawl, here's hoping tho.
