Lets see...I'm not that creative, so I'll just go over the basics:
I'm 33 (yeah, I'm officially old...now get off my lawn!)
I currently work for a big insurance company, but that will change in 2 years after I get my Masters and become a professional bean counter (3x the salary, b1tches!)
As for gaming...my parents bought me an NES in 1986 and they have regretted that purchase to this day. I've been through a game boy, game gear, SNES, N64, Xbox, PS1, PS2, and currently enjoying the 360, Wii, and most recently the PS3 (wife's still pissed about that last one).
I was an editor of a now defunct gaming site, but now a Dtoid Army member.
After many months of sweat, blood, tears, nails, lumber, and some really good drywall and carpet installers, the Media Room/Basement/Office has been completed!!!
The brains of the system...receiver, and gaming central.
A slightly broader view of the centerpiece.
And here's a broad view.
All in all, it was definitely worth it. It does have 7.1, with bookshelf Polk Audio in the front and Klipsch surround in the side and back. 10" sub is in the corner, but its a bit on the larger side, but I'm hoping to eventually add a recliner to sort of cover it up.
No picture of the dog this time, as he's not allowed on the new furniture.
Well, my wife and I found out last Thursday...we're having a baby girl!! Gonna name her Elizabeth Grace. Hope mommy doesn't mind a little girl playing Halo with daddy...;)
On the basement front, we've got everything basically done, save the flooring. We were going to do hardwood, but its too much of a pain to upkeep, especially w/ my dog running around. SO...we're going with carpet. Should be installed in about a week. Once that's done, its just a little bit of touch-up on the walls, and then have the furniture ordered/delivered. Once everything is complete, I'll update with some pictures, because the changes are QUITE drastic compared to the barren drywall from last time.
On the gaming front, Fallout 3 looks to be the game to beat this fall...every video is just making the wait that much harder. I've also pre-ordered Fable II, but, thankfully, not the CE version...WTF, Microsoft....since when does a CE version lose all of its CE stuff?! I still want the Fallout 3 lunchbox, but I just can't justify the extra cost right now...
As promised...ages ago....here are some updated pics of the home theater in progress:
Here is the wall where the "bar" area will be...sorry, we don't have a sink, but we'll have a fridge and a well-stocked liquor cabinet -
Next we have a full-room view of where the entertainment will be -
Of course, no tour would be complete without my adorable dog -
Lastly, here is a picture of said entertainment: My PS3, 360 w/ HD-DVD (laugh it up, it still works perfectly thank you very much) along with my new 52" 1080p Samsung beauty...on top of an old dresser in my spare bedroom -
As you can see, progress is being made, but we still have to prime, paint, trim, and put the flooring in...and buy furniture..and a fridge...and a microwave...and win the lottery.
Just found out about a week ago that my wife is pregnant!!!
We've been trying for over a year, so this is a great, great thing. Its definitely giving motivation to finishing the home theater, since the equipment for that beast is currently sitting on the dresser in my spare bedroom (which will become the nursery very soon).
Speaking of the home theater project, the electrical is nearly complete and drywall could start as early as this weekend. I'll post pics when I get home from work today (gee, I wonder where I am right now...)
