Hey fellow Dtoiders, my name is Josh Abram, I got several names that make up the whole which is me. Darrgoth my PSN Tag, Braingame007 is my 360 tag and Senger which I post on here.(Was the name of my character in WoW). I am here today on Destructoid Live to tell you abit about myself. I own a PS3 and Xbox 360, I am into a lot of games, only games I do not really care for is sports titles unless is has the name Mario on it. The main type of genre I enjoy is RPGs, Even though the RPGs of today are going down hill minus a few great titles. I enjoy MMORPGs as well but at the moment I reside in none. I also enjoy playing good actions games, competitive fighting games and shooters ofcourse. Halo, Socom Confrontation, Killzone 2, Gears of War.
Before I mainly enjoyed to play competitively online but I am coming to like co-op play more as Co-op is coming back into play in major titles.
I have other interests as well outside of video games, I love to watch anime, the main site I use to watch anime is www.crunchyroll.com. I watch all sorts of anime, not picky here at all, I even enjoy sports anime like Slam Dunk and Eye-Shield 21. Ofcourse though my favorite Anime of 3 of the top in Mainstream Japan, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. I watch alot of other series as well and am not a critic when it comes to anime by any means. Outside of anime though I like to read books written by R.A. Salvatore and David Gemmell. Fantasy Novels.
Anyhow I need to get going, so I will finish the rest of the about me at a later point. This should be good enough to make Patman Happy for now =)

You do sound like a total "fanboy" though.
Yeah- I would like a Big Mac, large fries, and a Coke for the cost of a Happy Meal.. but I'm not going to get that either.
The Pro comes with a 60 Gig Harddrive.
I'll buy the console for the games, not for the specs, even if I agree with everything you said.
When it gets down to it, no average consumer gives a damn about about the add on prices. You must remember, not everyone who plays games sits and calculates the prices of accessories while they surf video game blogs. In the end they see The Wii at $249, the 360 at $300 and the PS3 at $400 and think "man the PS3 is expensive." They don't think "oh well it comes with an internal wireless adapter. that saves me money!" Like it or not, the PS3's price point IS hurting the sales still. But it's not going to change anytime soon. The economy is in the shitter and Sony still loses money on every PS3 they sell, so if they lower the price they're going to lose MORE money.
and the next time you pull this argument up, you know since it's still fresh and new for the past two and a half years, get the facts straight. All 360's come with a 60GB HDD
Especially in this economy the card readers, wireless internet, web browser, bigger hard drive and so on don't represent $100 worth of value.
If you look at the closest competition, Xbox 360 offers a bare bones box at $199. That plays just about all of the same games. For a lot of people, that's all the comparison they need. It does basically the same thing, but for $200 less.
The Blu-Ray player is a great added value, but only if you have an HD setup to take advantage of it. If you're already price conscious, there's a good chance you don't have a nice big 1080p and surround setup. If that's the case, then Blu-Ray isn't going to be a huge improvement over DVD.
Free online play over PSN is nice, but if you're not big on multiplayer gaming it's another feature you could live without.
Also, Microsoft has also a very good job of obscuring the cost of LIVE with gold and silver accounts. Technically everyone with an internet connection can use Xbox LIVE, and even single player games that just report achievements are "LIVE enabled". In their marketing MS can say that Xbox LIVE is free to use. Technically this is true, and it makes it harder for consumers to understand why free play on PSN is a big deal.
So assuming you don't find a lot of value in a web browser, card reader, big Hard Drive, wireless internet, and Blu-Ray, you're left with two machines that do basically the same thing - play the current generation of video games - and one is more expensive than the other. For a lot of people that's pretty much there is to it.
Actually, no PS3 versions have PS2 compatability anymore. They axed that well over a year ago. I have to say that it's sad that Sony is hacking away at features and functionality but isn't cutting the price to go along with it.
I'm afraid of what might occur should anything happen to my 60gb PS3. There's no other way to get that upscaling on PS2 games.
The second reason is simply that 360 packages offer better value for money. An Elite is the top of the line currently, with a sweet sized hard drive, but even below that, with a premium it offers a complete pack set for gaming, that is better value for money.
Now Sony will forever tout Blu Ray as the next messiah media, but this and PS3s worth is kind of quashed as stand alone Blu Ray players are now starting to appear cheap, with recordable Blu Ray not far behind. Blu Ray films are a sweet extra, not the necessity many make out.
I want to own all consoles too, but I'll bag a PS3, when it gets to about £200. My patience will pay off in the end. Until then, my 360 will do nicely, thanks.
So yeah, it's subjective.
Have you seen Ruby Rhod in your galaxy lately? Bitch owes me $5.

The point is, we've seen it all before. I don't even know if this is forum worthy.
