Hello, Destructoid readers! Can you believe that Secret Moon Base has been around for a year? That's nuts. We started this podcast way back in January and have spent the whole year talking your ear off about the video games, movies, sex positions, food, hot guys, Wu Tang members, and pretty much whatever else was on our minds. It's been a blast so far and we will continue to hone our craft and keep these episodes coming in 2013. Woohoo!
BUT! It's still 2012 and we have one last thing we need to get off our chest before we welcome the new year. There is no shortage of awards getting tossed around and we wanted in on some of this action. So we wrote up some unique categories, made our picks and, for good measure, sent them out to our former guests to see what they had to say as well! We collected all the data, made ourselves a drink, finished dinner, and recorded the most comprehensive video game awards show we've ever produced! You may be surprised by some of our picks!
Give it a listen and give us some feedback, if you're so inclined. What did you love? What should we change for next year? If you want to get involved, find us on Twitter (@theSMBpodcast) and ask us a question. Thanks for listening!
Let this header serve as a **SPOILER WARNING** for episode one of The Walking Dead game.
Greetings, Cbloggers! How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was collectively pretty amazing, filled with great food, family gatherings and (at least for 3 of us) enough alcohol to drown a Clydesdale. Good times all around.
Our guest this week is Dtoider and bakery goddess, AngelEena! We talk about food (a lot) before delving into what we've been playing lately. Occam gives us his thoughts on the ending of Borderlands 2 and Halo 4's multiplayer. Angel reveals her obsession with Harvest Moon and explains why she's all about handhelds. Corduroy questions why he's been playing so much Punch Quest and kicks the door wide open on episode one of The Walking Dead game. Knutaf got completely sucked into La Mulana (read more here) and finished up Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery. Games!
That's just the first half. Since we didn't have a topic this week, the second half was dedicated to well over an hour of listener question goodness. If you'd like to hear your question answered on the next episode, find us on Twitter: @theSMBpodcast.
Hey there, Clboggers! For our 26th episode we invited our friend and 360 FNF contributor SuperMonk4Ever into the Moon Base to chat about the biggest Xbox 360 game of the year, Halo 4! Of course, if you've listened to any of our previous episodes, you'll know that we frequently deviate from our topic and this one is no different. There's a surprising amount of laughter in this episode too. It's almost as if we're enjoying ourselves.
Back by popular demand is the Occam intro (absorbent undergarments are recommended). This sexual energy carries us into our first serious discussion -- food sex, obviously. Occam gives us his thoughts on Dishonored and Assassin's Creed III. SuperMonk gives us the low down on Black Ops 2 and what it's like gaming on a STANDARD DEFINITION TELEVISION. Corduroy says goodbye to Gears of War 3 and complains about email advertising. Knutaf obsesses over La Mulana and tells us about his new Dark Souls build. Of course, we talk about Halo 4 a bunch and do our best to avoid spoilers. That being said **spoiler** we like it a lot.
As usual we saved the best for last. Listener questions rounded out our discussion but (thankfully) took us off topic quite a bit too. Thanks guys! If you'd like to hear your question answered on the next episode, find us on Twitter: @theSMBpodcast.
Hello, Destructoid Cbloggers. Happy Halloween! In this, our twenty fifth episode, the Secret Moon Base crew teamed up with everyone's favorite Rape Genie, Nihil, to discuss the only thing that made sense - horror games!
Occam handles the intro this time around and, I must say, does an absolutely fantastic job. Corduroy gets everybody talking about The Raid: Redemption and gives his thoughts on Dishonored. Knutaf explains how pleased he is with the new Dark Souls DLC and gushes about Mark of the Ninja. Nihil confesses his love for all things Lovecraft and gives us the juicy details on the custom Werewolf game he created for the Forums. And that's all before we even delve into our topic! Get comfortable, people, this is a loooong one.
Partly to blame are our wonderful listeners who unleashed a virtual tidal wave of questions onto us this week and we can't thank you guys and gals enough. You are truly the candy to our corn. If you'd like to hear your question answered on the next episode, find us on Twitter: @theSMBpodcast.
Major thanks to Nihil for being a badass guest and thanks to you all for listening!
Hey there, listeners. First things first, I should warn you guys about the super weird intro music this week. Sometimes our editor knutaf gets all hopped up on cranberry juice and just wigs out! Beware! (It's actually pretty hilarious)
For your listening pleasure this week, the men of Secret Moon Base (there's a 2013 calendar in the works) have rounded up all of this year's big holiday titles and slathered them with our thoughts. It took a long time too, as this episode runs over the two hour mark by a decent amount. It probably didn't help that we talked about RuPaul's Drag Race and the history of gay club culture for about 20 minutes. Video games, people!
Our listener questions came out in full force this week but we made sure to answer every single one because we love you guys and gals so much. If you'd like to hear your question answered on the next episode, find us on Twitter: @theSMBpodcast.
If the header didn't tip you off, this episode is all about Borderlands 2! Seeing that all three residents of the moon base have been logging some serious hours into this lovely game over the last few weeks, it only felt natural to sit down and talk about why we love it so much! We chat about the numerous improvements, reveal our favorite NPCs, delve into the ups and downs of each playable character and maybe even bitch about the map a little.
As always, we saved the best for last with some really great listener questions which helped us round out the discussion. If you'd like to hear your question answered on the next episode, find us on Twitter: @theSMBpodcast. We do our best to answer them all; even the cartoon sex ones!
