Thanks for the heads up! I dropped into a local Blockbuster a few weeks ago when I first heard about the receivership hoping to spot some sales, but at that point the staff said it was entirely business as usual. On reading your blog I googled my town and Blockbuster and find out that 4 stores will close June 18 - so I'll head over and see if they have any decent deals!
The ones around me only seem to have 30% of preowned movies so far. Picked up a few BluRays and now I'm just waiting for the video game sales to go on. Looks like you got a great deal!!

Yeah, one store just started their clearance sale today and is only at 30%. From what I was told they'll all be at 70% before the 18th though. There are giant banners on the windows of stores so you'll know which ones are full clearance.
It's kind of depressing actually seeing the store slowly empty, the staff knowing their jobs are done in a week and just not giving a fuck.

Sure, you can get some cheap games and stuff, but is it worth it to have to be in Canada in order to obtain such inexpensive goods?

I don't even know where the nearest video rental place is round here, a lot of them seem to have gone out of business whilst I was living in Australia.
Yeah, when my local bb closed they packed their stuff and moved it to the two other bb stores right down the street. No real deals to speak of, and now I have to go slightly out of my way to get to blockbuster.

Eh, it is kind of funny when you think of how... what 15-20 years ago, Blockbuster drove out all the small local video rental shops. Definitely sucks for all the people losing their jobs, but I can't remember the last time I rented anything from a store.
