Oh ho! Aren't I tricky? Four reasons instead of a round number like 5 or 10! ;) In all seriousness though, Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor (Tentative Title) or Gyakuten Kenji is a new spin off title in the fantastic Ace Attorney series, staring Phoenix Wright's rival and friend: Miles Edgeworth, and it will be amazing. Here's the proof:
4. It's fresh
Don't get me wrong, I adore the standard Phoenix Wright formula, and it with out a doubt the way the series should continue to play, but after four iterations, it's nice to get a chance to interact with the Ace Attorney world in a different way. The new system looks to play like a classic adventure game, which is a very good thing, with you moving Edgeworth around various locales with the stylus in an attempt to solve mysteries. And although nothing is confirmed yet,
An interview with the developers seems to suggest that it will focus more on solving the mystery then fighting the court battle, which will make for a fun change of pace.
3. The gang is back
As much as I love Apollo, and his motley crew of magician and penis haired friends, no one will ever replace Phoenix and co. for me. That's why I was so excited when
Perfect Prosecutor's trailer revealed the triumphant return of
Wendy Oldbag,
Cody Hakins,
The Bellboy,
Fransiska Von Karama,
Lotta Hart Will Powers and
Young Ema Skye. And while Phoenix is confirmed not to make an appearance, there's still a chance for a
certain favorite spirit medium to make a cameo! Even with out Maya though, it's still an all star cast, and who knows what other awesome charecters will be introduced.
2. Detective Dick Gumeshoe
Not only is Gumeshoe one of the greatest and funniest video game charecters of all time, ("The witness is a female college student, that means she's female and a college student!") his chemistry and interactions with Edgeworth are incredible, and due to his staring role as the Miles' sidekick, hilarious dialogues like the one below are sure to be common place, which would be incredible.
Gumshoe: That staff belonged to the victim, Ms. Elise Deauxnim. There's nothing strange or magical about it. ...Oh yeah! Listen, this is just between us, OK sir?
Edgeworth: Yes... What?
Gumshoe: This is top-secret stuff! Don't tell anyone about this.
Edgeworth: ...Alright.
Gumshoe: The truth is... When I was a kid... I wanted to be a wizard!
Edgeworth: What is this festive-looking ornament?
Larry: It reminds me of art class in grade school. We used to have a lot of fun decorating the classroom with origami. Remember?
Edgeworth: W-Well, I...
Larry: Oh, yeah...You were never any good at it.
Gumshoe: Really?
Larry: Yeah, this guy was so bad, he couldn't even fold a dollar, let alone a crane.
Larry: Everyone tried to comfort him, but he would just sit there sobbing.
Gumshoe: Really? I never would have imag-
Edgeworth: Be quiet already! I'll never forget the shame of that day! You want a crane! I can now make a perfect quarter-inch crane without a single flaw!
Larry: ...You know, Edgey...Nothing for nothing, but a quarter-inch crane without a single flaw is not easy.
Gumshoe: Yeah, that's quite a feat, Prosecutor Edgeworth!
Edgeworth: (Grr...This is exactly why I hate childhood friends...)
Gumshoe: This is the Eagle River, sir. It runs pretty fast, so it doesn't ice over, even in the winter.
Edgeworth: If it had iced over, Wright would have been in some serious trouble when he fell from the bridge.
Gumshoe: You're right about that! He would've landed on the ice, and slid downstream to who knows where.
