Today is a good day indeed! The demo for the widely anticipated Lego Indiana Jones game has finally been released! You can download it here. Be warned though, it is a large 464 MB file, so it may take some time to download. Hope you enjoy both this and the upcoming Lego Batman game as well!
Today was a slow day for cblog posts, so I had a nice relaxing day of recapping and playing Mario Kart Wii, Audio Surf (Which I desperately need help with =P)and Everyday Shooter. Hope you had fun reading my two recaps and that you'll enjoy Sadie G's tomorrow!
How awesome would be if Destructoid was a newspaper?
Imagine if when you subscribed to Destructoid you're house/apartment/dorm/model mini mansion/hole in the ground in Iraq was connected to a vast system of pneumatic tubes. You were also given a type writer. Every time a new front page or cblog story is written, it is sent to you through the tube. You also get a new paper whenever someone either comments on a post or edits it. If someone makes their blog hidden, you are sent a memo and are obliged to incinerate your copy of the post. Immediately. You compose your story on the type writer and tape on pictures that you find in the magical big box that contains all the pictures ever taken. drawn, rendered or other. You then place it in the pneumatic tube and WHOOSH! away it goes! It is sent to a massive computer system buried somewhere under the Arctic Circle that then prints out copies for everyone and distributes them. PM's and forum posts are handled in a similar fashion. If you get banned, you can still send and receive posts, only the tubes are reorganized so that you're sent stories/PMs/forum posts/comments get sent to the middle of nowhere!

The computer system I recommend we use to manage the formal arctic pneumatic system (The FAP system)

This made even less sense then my Every Day Shooter pigism
Sorry about this post. It may quite possibly be the worst thing I have ever written in my life. To make it up to you I give you this. This is my favorite video of ever. Words can not describe how much I love it.
Serebii.net, the site behind all the pre-Diamond/Pearl exclusive info, may have struck gold and discovered that a new Pokémon game is going to be revealed in Thursday's issue of Coro Coro magazine. They do state that this is not 100% confirmed, but Serebii has a proud history of being at the cutting edge of unauthorized Pokémon info. Here's what they bleive to be the case.
- Pokémon Platinum, set for September release. Giratina on the box
- Volkner no longer gym leader of Sunyshore City
- The Underground is now Wi-Fi enabled
- An island called Battle Island, works in the same manner as the Battle Frontier
- Several new Pokémon 'forms' exist in the game; Giratina's Origin Form, Regigigas' Sky Form, Shaymin's Another Form
- Giratina & Regigigas' new forms are said to be able to get the Levitate ability and Shaymin's Another form may be at least part Ice Type
It all sounds cool, but I'd rather have a remake of Gold/Silver like they did with Fire Red/Leaf Green.
I had forgotten how much work went into making one of these. I still greatly enjoyed doing it though, and can't wait for my second one tomorrow! Hope you like this early recap and my Pigisms!
Yesterday I bought Everyday Shooter on Steam. I had heard about the game when it came out on PSN, but seeing as I don't have a PS3, I didn't play much attention to it. So when I downloaded it I had no idea what to expect. After playing an hour or so, I'm in awe.
This may sound wonky, but I feel like I'm one with the game. Not in the hokey spiritual sense, but as in my physical sense are melded in with the game. The combination of the beautiful backgrounds and music, that are both influenced by the player's actions, it just feels like I'm in the game sort of. At times, I even sort of seem to lose control of what I'm doing, and I revert to playing the game based on sub-conscious stimuli and primal instinct. (Okay, maybe not primal =P) Maybe it's just how close in proximity I am to my computer screen or the fact that I haven't gotten much sleep as of late, but I truly felt like Everyday shooter was a unique,, strange and wonderful experience.
Does any of that make any sense? If not just ignore this part and skip to the recap =P
Chronotron, is an awesome free flash puzzle game highly reminiscent of both Portal and Shift except instead of navigating through portals or through a spatial shifting, your navigating.... through time!
The fundamentals of the game play are relatively simple. You leave your Tardis like time machine and try and reach a broken off part of it. You do an action and then return to the machine and travel back into the past. As you move around in the past, a second version of you goes back and does what you did in the past. It gets more complicated but as long as you have a firm mastery of the basics, it will all make sense.
Wow. It's not quite the 1:1 dueling I imagined, but it looks pretty amazing! I love the use of the Nunchuck for the force powers, although I'm not quite sure why Luke can use force lighting. The character roster looks great. I wasn't able to see everyone becuase of the greyed out squares, but I saw Luke, one hand Luke, Vader, Mace Windu, Mara Jade and the Emperor, and that's good enough for me, although I'd like to see Ben Kenobi as well. The stages look great, and all the destroyable environments look entertaining. Overall it seems pretty great, let's just hope it works as well as it looks.
I did some investigating, and discovered tomorrows Virtual Console releases! It's two game game, one priced at 1000 points, the other at 500. One for the N64 and one for the NES. And the first game is...
Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64!
Info: Pokemon Puzzle League is a Pokemon themed version of Tetris Attack! with a twist, along with the standard six block wide 2-D mode, there's a 16 block wide 3-D mode that arranges the blocks into a rotating column. It also features extensive voice acting and FMVs of the Pokemon Anime charecters.
As a huge fan or both Pokemon and of Tetris Attack!, I'm really excited to play this game! I loved the Pokemon Puzzle Challenge for the GBC, and the 3-D mode sounds great! Plus FMVs are always amusing, as is the original Pokemon Anime.
The second game is...
Renegade for the NES!
Info: Renegade is the spiritual precursor to Double Dragon, and all other Beat em Ups. It features such memorable moments as a battle on motorcycle, and a duel with a knife welding boss. It also features tinny NES voice acting.
I think I'm more excited for the return of the Double Dribble voice on Retroforcego! then I am for the actual game. It looks fun, but with Double Dragon and River City Ransom already on the VC, there doesn't seem to be much reason to purchase this one. I'll wait for Chad's review before I pass judgment though.
Also this piece isn't as life like as Mario and Pikachu, it still is just as unsettling. Pac-Man is apparently a pill popping astronaut, that begins to hallucinate, which drives him to consume more anti-anxiety pills to drive the fear the ghost he sees away. Or maybe he's responsible for his other astronaut friend's death, and he has to take the pills to deal with his own guilt, which causes him to hallucinate the ghosts. I'm not sure how the artist thought up the idea for this bizzare but awesome piece, but I am sure that this is a more accurate depiction of what a realistic Pac-Man would look like.
Also,
Your thoughts?
[edit]Turns out not only can you buy a shirt featuring this picture, the artist posted a explanation about the piece! Here's the entry for your reading pleasure.
"True story:
In 1976, Cosmonaut Nikolai Peckmann was sent alone to an orbiting space station for what would be called Mission Six- to study the radiation levels and strange circumstances that killed all four crewmen of the last research mission.
By the third day, Peckmann's broken transmissions were coming back to ground control filled with increasing paranoia and delusion. He claimed that the spirits of the dead cosmonauts were coming to claim him, and that he had to keep moving to evade them. He shouted that if he could capture consume these spirits himself while he still had strength, he could move to the next level of consciousness...Truly the rantings of an insane man.
Indeed, video recovered later would show Peckmann running around the confined but maze-like station, downing emergency sedatives like a madman....pausing in a corner momentarily, only to throw back vitamin pills and give chase to his invisible demons.
He had exhausted the entire cargo of vitamins, pills, and fresh fruit well ahead of schedule. There was no way another crew could be assembled to rescue him before he starved. After one rather violently garbled transmission, the static cleared and the last live image on record is that of Peckmann's empty, wilted spacesuit on the cabin floor.
It was determined that another mission to recover any remains or gather any more research would be a waste of the people's money, and the station was allowed to drift out of orbit and into space- a failure never to be mentioned again. It was ordered and assumed that all video and paper evidence had been destroyed.
..then, at the dawn of the eighties, a fledgling arcade game company called NAMCO would stumble across the transcripts of these events, and the rest -as they say- is history.
okay i just made all that crap up, but with or without a story, I hope it's a cool design."[/edit]
Game Radar has found the first easter egg of GTA4! Hidden inside the Statue of Happiness is a gigantic chained beating heart, that if shot releases pigeons. I have no clue as to why they chose to hide this cardiac bonus in the game, but it is awesome none the less! I'm sure there is some deep symbolism behind it's inclusion that would become apparent if I bothered to play the game, perhaps some of you have theories as to what it might represent?
An epic recreation of the final scene of There Will Be Blood featuring two spectacular actors
that rival Daniel Day Lewis in terms of talent. No joke. Enjoy!
