Wikipedia's featured article: GameFAQS!?!?!?!
Scape | 9:06 PM on 11.04.2007 12 comments

I don't think I have EVER been quite as surprised with Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

You may remember some of my earlier blogs talking about Wikipedia having different video games as their featured articles, but GameFAQS? You have to be shitting me. Of all the articles on Wikipedia they pick a video-game website?

I guess it's cool that they are featuring a game website like this, but there are thousands of articles on Wikipedia, why pick this one?

Anyway, lets try to get D-toid as a Wikipedia featured article, if GameFAQS can do it, then we certainly can. It should be one of our new missions.

We don't need to be on Wiki's featured article. GameFAQS was good for a while, until the humorous retards joined and spammed the message boards. As I said before, we don't need to be featured, unless we want the publicity.

Don't look at GameFAQs as a terrible community, look at it as a great resource for free gaming information.

Quote for truth. I never use the messageboards there. EVER. I just use it for hax for games.

The walkthroughs there are great, and the forums are a good bit of mindless fun. Quoth my brother: "It's like a work-safe 4-chan".

Also, I believe their annual character battle just wrapped up, with Tetris's L-Block being the winner. Beating out Link, Solid Snake, and Cloud Strife.

Reading the flame wars over whether or not L-Block is a character is a good way to kill 15 minutes when one doesn't have his DS or PSP with him.

I've been a member of GameFAQs for over 5 years. :D

I still hang around the boards from time to time, if only because I'm a really high level and it makes me feel like I've accomplished something. Plus I grew up with that site, so I love it unconditionally. >_>

It's nice for when I get stuck in games, too. I know that most of the boards suck, but for the most part, when I ask a question, somebody's usually nice enough to give me a helpful answer.

It's a nice vent to get the stupid out at times, and there actually are quite a few diamonds in the rough there.

Also, L BLOCK FTW. Link couldn't get GFAQs on Wikipedia front page, but L Block could.
THats sum dem Eye of the Tiger right thurr, that L Block.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
