Just like everyone else here I'm a twenty something nerd who enjoys video games. It wasn't really until I was about fourteen that I really started getting into games and other mediums. As a kid my folks never bought me video games, let me watch movies, or enjoy tv and "most" music so I lived a terribly dull nonexistence. For years I had been skimming along by sneaking over to friends houses and the occasional visit to my uncles who had an original Famicom. Thankfully that all changed and I've been overdosing on everything I can get my hands on since.
Sadly I'm not rich so as much as I love video games I can only play so many so often. However movies and tv happen to be a little cheaper. I believe that all current mediums in our culture cross reference each other whether it be good or bad. Games influence movies, movies influence tv, tv acknowledges that video games exist every once and a while.
Honestly I really enjoy this community and just want to contribute what I can.
I recently finished watching all three season's of the show Arrested Development. I know its been off the air and that I'm really late to the game but I have to say I really really love this show. But what I love about this show is not just the humor but for its commentary on television, censorship, and the modern family dynamic.
The first season has most of my favorite episodes and the second season follows up nicely. It wasn't until the third season did they know that they were being canceled and decided to go all out with the show. The story lines became increasingly insane where as the first and second season was much more character based.
But what really got me was the way the show was very aware of itself without over stating that fact. I think its that the narrator contributes so much and acts as another character in the show. Every once and a while the characters make references to being on a TV show or something of that nature but the narrator out right talks to the audience and gives us the answers to questions that the characters don't know about. The narrator gives us insight into the show without the characters looking at the screen and winking all the time.
This pretty much turned into a love fest but I don't really give a shit. If you haven't checked out the show all the episodes are up on Hulu.

Easily one of the best shows to EVER grace television . . . and only if FOX wasn't so goddamn retarded, it would still be on today . . . =( The best is how you HAVE to watch it in order, since they bring up random things from previous episodes much later on, lol. One of my favorites is still S.O.B. in Season 3, where the ENTIRE episode is dedicated to getting more viewership or a new station to broadcast them . . .

"Damn HBO . . . what about Showtime?"
My love for AD is no secret. Hopefully you guys all watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia too, but if you don't, it's also on Hulu (and it's still on the air).
Same here. Got into the show late. Bought the first season to "test the waters", then imeediatley bought the next 2 seasons. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
There's a movie supposedly in the works... or maybe that was a rumor. Either way, great show. FOX has many of my favorite canceled-too-soon shows, and this one right at the top.

That show is neither seen, nor heard now.

Coincidentally, I've been watching Always Sunny in PA all day today as well.
