I wanted to address a lot of things in the comments of the latest article about it and I thought it was easier to do so in a blog.

First off, I wasn't offended by it, but I was bothered by it. To me it showed a complete disregard and disrespect to a certain demographic. Regardless if they thought about the ad or not, it shows that they didn't care about the people who it would bother or offend.

I know people complain a lot about stupid shit and ads, but I honestly think this was a bit much. There was a joke there, but it was poorly done and only comes off that it was done that way just to get the 'publicity' it's getting. They used a word that is a derogatory word towards a group of people, regardless of how some people use it, in the US it's commonly used as a derogatory term towards homosexuals. When people generally use the word, it's used as an insult no matter what meaning you feel like giving it on any given day.

If there wasn't anything wrong with the video, they wouldn't of pulled it. They're still going to make the money they make off the game regardless. It boggles my mind in a sense as well considering how activision has been lately anyway. They haven't actually shown that they generally give a shit about the people who buy their games.

I don't think anyone is being a 'baby' about it or being too 'PC' about the situation at all. Like I said, them pulling the ad shows how wrong they knew they were. People don't use the word as a term of endearment and personally I think the other definition such as it meaning 'stupid' is just a cop out, because the word stupid is there for you to use already, what made people adapt to using 'fag' and 'gay' as stupid?

Disclaimer: So far most of this is based off some comments I read on Dtoid post about SSFVI itself, but some of my points regard games in general and things I've read before across other gaming sites.

This was literally inspired a few minutes ago by reading about how SSFIV will not be downloadable content and instead a whole new disc. I have a few problems with this.

-People are already saying that it easily could be DLC when they actually have no idea of what is going to be on the Disc outside of what was just announced. The little bit of info on Eight characters and tweaks, but people are already flipping shit about it. This is the first time any little bit of news about the game has been released and this obviously won't be all of it, but people are already deciding whether it's right or wrong.

-This is my bigger gripe, the Street Fighter series has always released multiple versions of their games as separate games. Where have 'you' people been where this is all a sudden a problem with this one? I completely understand we're on consoles that could easily just patch things, but this is what would fall on my first point that no one can justify not paying for it when they hardly know what is actually going to be on the disc.

-And the fact that they stated it wouldn't be full retail price. Which is a bigger bonus and majority of other companies would probably charge you full price for a half assed unpolished game/add on.

I just don't get this kind of mentality where this kind of thing is being judged before anything is fully known about this product and other products before it. No one can really justify whether it's supposed to be DLC or not because we have no idea how the end product is going to be. It's kind of ridiculous people have these knee jerk responses without thinking about what they're saying before they say it. But it's sadly not surprising that people do have these responses.

I am sure that plenty of people ranted about this on blogs and what not. But with this recent post.

http://www.destructoid.com/microsoft-to-release-a-two-tone-controller-in-october-149469.phtml

And someone mentioning on podtoid (sorry, don't remember the exact episode) that it was just an analog stick with a directional pad on top, I had to have another rant. I'm bored and it popped into my head again and I just need to write this frustration down.

This is the most basic thing on a controller and they actually fucked it up. Something that worked for years, something that didn't need any altering or change or anything. What is the point? I really don't get it, every time I touch the thing it's just a nightmare. It's astonishing that they're releasing a new controller with the same pile of shit on it and it's guaranteed that people will spend money on it anyway. It sucks and I will never get over how much it sucks and how they actually thought it was a good idea to have this controller released with their system.

Granted, I don't think I've ever really used the directional pad too much until SF4 came out, but I loved the feature where you can do a Hadouken motion and instead jump backwards. This totally trips my opponent out and even myself sometimes, in the end it's not even about winning the match, it's about who can actually play long enough before throwing their already broken controller.

I really don't know what else to say, although I think I should have written something a bit longer. After touching the directional pad again, it just reminded me how much I hate it and how useless it is when it's supposed to be the biggest necessity on the controller. The day (if ever) that a controller comes out with a working directional pad for the Xbox 360 will be my second birthday.

ps. I do have an Arcade stick at this point, but there is still no excuse for this nonsense.

I kind of go through this phase with games sometimes. I will play the living hell out of it, and then just stop playing. There is absolutely no reason for this, I enjoyed the game(s), put multiple hours into it and for one reason or other I just drop it.

This isn't a discussion about the game I'm going to be bringing up, just the situation itself. I started to play FFXII months ago, I wanted to really get into an rpg or something that I can just put a lot of time and work into and I ended up doing that. I did a TON of the side quests, the hunts, farming items, looking for weapons, etc, etc. I got up until the very last point of the game, right where the castle/ship thing is above the main city, I don't even remember what it was called because it has been so long. At that point I was like 'Ok, I do this later' ... that never happened. I never went back to the game, haven't played it since and just haven't had the desire to turn it back on.

Now, there was nothing wrong with the game (in my opinion of course) that happened to make me do this, I was enjoying the game, having fun with the side quests/hunting and just grinding things out. But for some reason I just stopped and I have no desire (at this point) to go back to it any time soon. I have definitely done this with other games, but it never had to do with the specific games not being good or frustrating, it just ended up happening. And I have absolutely no idea why.

I definitely do want to finish the game, but I just don't feel like it for some odd reason. But I guess the good thing is that I did enjoy the game? Who knows?

Any have similar experiences?

This is my first blog and I just kind of wanted to rant about something before I break anything more than the controller that is all over my room.

Games that are frustrating just for the sake of frustration are simply put, bullshit. Game in mind? Meat boy. The game is definitely a good game is most aspects of it, but the level of 'difficulty' ( nonsense ) that it throws at you is simply put, unfair and it frustrates me more because I want to like the game more but because of these instances, I can't.

Now with the little announcement of a Meat Boy coming to wiiware, I decided to check it out again and was immediately reminded as to why I stop playing it in the first place. There are just some 'fuck you' levels that absolutely do not rely on any sort of skill, but only luck. I absolutely despise that, what is the point? It's just feels like they're throwing shit at you just for the sake of throwing something at you because it 'has' to be that difficult. I got to a level (Chapter 3 - Hell: 13. Six Six Six) and I was letting my pride get the best of me by saying to myself 'No matter what, I'm going to beat this level even if gouge my own eyes out', but I couldn't, because what was being thrown at me was just completely ridiculous. It pissed me off because there are quite a few other levels that are difficult by their design, not trying to be difficult for difficulties sake.

I also kept in mind that maybe I just wasn't 'good' enough, but I can't accept that. I'm no top tier gamer and with enough practice I can get through difficult parts in most games, but after trying and trying I couldn't help but think at this point it was just too frustrating and unfairly done that I proceeded to scream profanities and give up on it.

Like I said, I really want to like this game a lot more than I do. But it beat me down and I'm afraid I can't bring myself to try it anymore because I'll probably end burning my house down.

But, I will say there are levels that I do like, the characters are cute and I did have fun playing certain parts of the game.
