Tales of INSERT TITLE HERE game for Wii.
SakuChan | 10:59 AM on 12.15.2008 18 comments

The new Tales of RPG, currently with the title "Tales of _____", was first announced back during the Nintendo conference earlier this year. Well, more like we were cocked teased with this screencap:

I wake up this morning (morning? hahaha) to find out that the video is out! Bandai-Namco had mentioned that the game will be fully 3D, and it should be closely related to Tales of Vesperia. Looking at the video, the style reminds me of Tales of Symphonia 2 buuuuuuuuut it seems they are putting a lot more effort into this new title. You can view the screencaps here via NeoGAF and here is the video:

I really like the outift, yum.

He can be my Prince anyday.
SakuChan | 7:37 PM on 12.06.2008 18 comments

I'm not going to lie, I haven't played a Prince of Persia game before. I know, I know, I can just hear the screaming right now. I can't really say why I never gave the game a chance but I never had anything against it. Because of this Prince of Persia, I definitely want to check out the older ones. This game is incredibly fun.

For one, the characters. Since I haven't played the other games, I didn't know what kind of character the Prince would be. Seeing his design for this game, I thought he was going to be this bad-ass man with a deep, sexy voice. Well, he still is a bad-ass man but the guy has pure, sarcastic humor. The conversations that him and Elika have can't help but make you smirk or chuckle. I'm only about 25 minutes into the game and I just stumbled into a conversation with the Prince trying to make Elika play a guessing game. By far, this was the funniest conversation yet. It helps that the voice acting is done well and is pleasing to the ear.

The combat system isn't difficult but it is enjoyable. While I don't find the fighting challenging, trying to do numerous kind of combo's is addicting. I think my only complaint about this game is that it's pretty repetitive. There's also the fact that you can never really die. Elika is always there to save the lazy bastard from falling to his death.

If you haven't pick the game up, I suggest you do. To me, it isn't so much the story and the game play that make the game worth while; it is the character's humorous interactions with each other. I look forward to see how the story progresses and to learn more about my Prince.

Now to continue playing~

The Last Remnant makes this SDTV user very sad. Gobble gobble.
SakuChan | 9:46 PM on 11.26.2008 12 comments

The title pretty much sums up my feelings. The Last Remnant is not SDTV friendly and I wish I had known this before. :( I tried to force through the game and ignore the microscopic font but when I felt my eyes burning, I knew I couldn't play the rest of this game. I'm not one for HDTV's and I don't care how gorgeous a game might look on them; to me, I just want to play my game and enjoy it. Now my ass is going to be out at 2am in front of a store waiting to snag a discounted HDTV.

Baw.

In regards to the game, I was able to play some of it at Colette's house. The exaggeration of their movements amuse me greatly but nonetheless, the details are beautiful and the music is fantastic. The battle system still boggles me and Colette and I couldn't figure out how the system of upgrading levels work. The union idea is different and I don't hate it, but I still have to get used to it.

Anyone else playing this game have a major lag issue? I don't know if it was Colette's 360 or if the game is really like that. When I played the game at home on my system, I didn't notice the lag too much. At her house, the lag was most noticeable during the battles.

I have yet to have a full opinion on this game right now. But I'm not exactly a picky gamer and feel that I will enjoy this game.

And since I won't be online tomorrow, I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!! This is the only time all the cousin's get to play video games :] ( This is practically a Thanksgiving tradition between the cousins -- and yes, I'm the only girl ... would have sucked I didn't like games. XD )

Miami NARP: Made of Awesome.
SakuChan | 7:33 PM on 11.22.2008 35 comments

All right, so my NARP cherry has been popped and it was the most amazing popping I've ever experienced. I arrived late because I was at work until 9 and the second I walked in there, all I could think was holy shit. It was like being in heaven. And hey, it didn't smell too bad ( ... what? It was honestly shocking. :P ).

Only thing that sucked was coming late because I couldn't jump into any of the competitions. I only got to play Rock Band once. The majority of the time I was just with my friends from anime club and walking around. Also sucked about the competitions that didn't end, especially the GoW (Was it GoW? I honestly wasn't even looking at what the hell they were playing) one that lasted until 2am.

Regardless, the atmosphere was bad ass and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one. :] I'm definitely getting the day off for it.

Here are a few pictures I took.

The TV's with the 360's hooked up. And in the back was Rock Band.

Area with SSBB, Soul Calibur, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (I cry for not being able to play it)

The SSBB area. You can see how much space we had for the event.

Soul Calibur behind SSBB. Serious gaming faces. XD

The bastard who pretty much told me about this site before. ElfAngel7 and my tired ass for ya.

Colette, Me, and ElfAngel7's girlfriend, aka, the one who made the awesome Destructoid merchandise courtesy of Epic Sugarworks. If you put the name tags together, you'll get the lovely "Awesome Saku Cocks". ;D

Lastly, Colette and I!

I really didn't get to meet other DToiders cause I honestly didn't really know who was one. xD And I wasn't introduced to much people. But that's okay, hopefully next time!

And now, time to play Last Remnant! Hell yeah.

Sanctuary of this Nerd.
SakuChan | 1:32 PM on 11.21.2008 48 comments

To begin, thank you everyone for the nice welcome, creepy stalking, and much advice to not suck. :]

I'm sure people love to share pictures of their rooms, which most of the time might consist of extreme insanity of obsession. While I had already posted some pictures at Tomopop, I focused more on my room than my figurines in these pictures. I owed Colette some new pictures of my room either way.

Don't worry, if my pictures scare you, it won't be the first. I do carry a lot of crap, especially in such a small room. Be warned, there are quite a few.

So welcome to my abyss!

First wall, next to my bed.

Next wall. Some figures, some plushies, a crap load of keychains that won't all fit on my cellphone.

Next! Random PS2 games that I recently bought, Nia belt, Eevvvaaahhhhh, Row row Fight Da POWAA!, manga that don't fit in my shelf, crappy laptop don't I don't use anymore.

Favorite part of my room. On the right, first shelf is full of Japanese manga, second self is the best shelf ever, and the desk part is full of more manga and random crap there too. Shelfs above my TV have videos that I didn't get in the picture, shelf full of doujinshi, figurines, and DVDs. Ignore the random cosplay wigs. XP

The best shelf I was talking about? THIS ONE. My Tales of shelf. I officially ran out of room for more Tales of stuff, crap. XD

Under my TV. Oh look, a Wii collecting dust. Random PSX games in there, Gamecube and DS, Wii.

So where are the games and other systems? Well. My brother doesn't live here anymore and my mom turned his room into an "entertainment" room. So nice of her to put up with my gaming shit.

Ta-dah! ..... yeah, kind of boring, I know. I'm not allowed to attack this room with stuff. She was nice enough to let me have the displays in there. The games are in boxes under the futon ... it was the only choice I had. D:

And to show you how pathetic I am with this obsession:

Mmmm, yes. So delicious. The game with the glare is Tales of Legendia. Tales of the Abyss US and RE Tales of Vesperia are missing because my friends have them. There are still some games missing but one that'll be hard for me to get is Tales of Destiny 2 US (aka Tales of Eternia). ;_;

So there you have it! Sorry I couldn't get pictures of my games but, uh, I feel so sad for them being kept hidden in a box.

Oh, and since I'm already posting a gajillion pictures, someone left a comment to share video game cosplay pictures. While I haven't really cosplayed people from games, I did dress up as Link for the midnight release of SSBB. It's not great but it was something I pulled together in one day. :P

Now with this done, time to go pick up my copy of The Last Remnant! Anyways, those going to the Miami NARP, see you tonight!

Introduction~!
SakuChan | 2:52 PM on 11.19.2008 58 comments

Hello, hello DToiders~!

Well, I decided to join this site. I'll admit I didn't visit here too often because I can only visit so many gaming websites and retrieve the same info. But my friend has always loved this website and I enjoyed the several postings he showed me. Plus, after meeting Niero and Colette, I heart them ever so much and wanted to be involved with the things they do.

I pretty much have all the information about me over there -->

I buy games and hardly play them, ... lame, I know. Not my fault, I'm a really busy person. I would love to give my input on games and whanot. So I hope keeping up with this website and blog will encourage me to do so (I'm supposed to be a reviewer for a site with my friends, but, uh ... yeaaaah.) ... especially since I tend to import games. : )

Anyways, nice to meet you all!

 about me

Alias: Saku
Age: Twenty-Three
Location: Florida
Twitter: TalesOfSaku

I've been a gamer almost my whole life. I'm not your average girl who grew up with Barbie's and whanot (though, I admit I still played them -- I enjoyed my brother's GI Joes more, hahaha. Boy toys are just better! .. wait, that didn't sound right.) Having an older brother, it was easier to get games and enjoy them more. The NES was my first love along with Sega right after. I miss Sega systems. : (

Systems I own:
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Gameboy (aka "The Brick")
Gameboy color
GBA SP
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Wii
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
(Insert Sega Genesis that was broken by my mom's Godchild. ;_;)
Playstation 1 (both old and new version)
Playstation 2 (US and Japanese)
PSP (Have 2, actually. Gave my brother my blue one when I got the FF7 Crisis Core one)
Xbox 360
(Insert PS3 sometime in the future)

You'll come to learn that I am a huge Tales of whore (and that I only bought a 360 for Vesperia). And I really love my RPGs. I'm not really big Xbox fan because of the extreme amount of FPS, though I don't hate them. But I never wanted to own it because most of their games are FPS. But the RPGs are coming so yay :D I love fighting games, and rhythm games, and do not like horror games at all.

Along with video games, also been into anime for as long as I can remember. I love cosplaying, collecting crap to clutter my room, wasting my brain cells on the internet, and being with my friends.

Feel free to contact me if you ever want to talk. I love to meet new people!
