I've been a gamer almost my whole life. I'm not your average girl who grew up with Barbie's and whanot (though, I admit I still played them -- I enjoyed my brother's GI Joes more, hahaha. Boy toys are just better! .. wait, that didn't sound right.) Having an older brother, it was easier to get games and enjoy them more. The NES was my first love along with Sega right after. I miss Sega systems. : (
Systems I own:
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Gameboy (aka "The Brick")
Gameboy color
GBA SP
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Wii
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
(Insert Sega Genesis that was broken by my mom's Godchild. ;_;)
Playstation 1 (both old and new version)
Playstation 2 (US and Japanese)
PSP (Have 2, actually. Gave my brother my blue one when I got the FF7 Crisis Core one)
Xbox 360
(Insert PS3 sometime in the future)
You'll come to learn that I am a huge
Tales of whore (and that I only bought a 360 for Vesperia). And I really love my RPGs. I'm not really big Xbox fan because of the extreme amount of FPS, though I don't hate them. But I never wanted to own it because most of their games are FPS. But the RPGs are coming so yay :D I love fighting games, and rhythm games, and do not like horror games at all.
Along with video games, also been into anime for as long as I can remember. I love cosplaying, collecting crap to clutter my room, wasting my brain cells on the internet, and being with my friends.
Feel free to contact me if you ever want to talk. I love to meet new people!
I remember when I played my PS3, 360, etc. with my SDTV. Games like Dead Rising pissed me off so much, with the small text and the like. Then I got myself one of 'dem fancy HDTVs, and it was like "woahhh". I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I kinda hate the games with no SDTV support. (looking at you Dead Rising and Lost Planet) Only cause it usually involves a lot of reading or things you'll need to see...but you can't cause it's programmed widscreen only and in the itty bitty font you can't read.
I'm glad I have a HDTV and I can play games with no problem. But I do hate how companies are pretty much forcing people to basically "GO HD OR GO NO D" crap. Granted...HD is slowly inchin into everyone's home, we're all broke thanks to economy.
I rented C&C: Red Alert 3 for my 360 this week because I didn't fancy buying it for my PC at the moment. I usually have an irrepressible need to finish a game before I send it back, but I had to make an exception this time. On an SDTV many of the units look the same and the text was almost totally illegible, worst I've ever seen in fact (yes I have Dead Rising). All in all, it was pretty hard to play and impossible to enjoy.
SDTV support should be part of this 'certification process' that every game allegedly goes through. Though considering the state of some releases they don't seem to certify a great deal.
52 inches to be precise, I was in the same camp as you about the whole HS issue, but thought as a gamer, I want the best, heck I demand the best, so I went half with ma sister, and in all honesty feel kinda stupid of rejecting HD, really its incredible. :)
If you can't be bothered spending an absolute ton, just buy a new 20-22 inch monitor, with in-built speakers, or even better, just buy a 20-32 inch LCD HDTV, they are rapidly coming down in price, well in England anyway!
Hope this helps. :)
