Warning, this blog post has a bit of... crude humor, one might say.
So yes, though I have stated before that I'm in an abusive relationship with Microsoft, I did not tell you about my other lover, Lionhead Studios. This one isn't so much abusive... more like it's... well, premature ejaculation. Please note, I don't really like such humor that much, but it seemed to fit so much.
Fable was the third game I got for Xbox, right after Halo and Brute Force. I hadn't heard a thing about it before then, but let me tell you, I was raptured by it. I fell in love right away, and this is possibly the game that got me addicted to RPG games. In fact, I played that game so much that when my basement got flooded, the only games I was worried about were the Godfather and Fable. And the xbox itself. Oh, and my computer.
ANYWAY.
Then comes in the 360 we got a few months after the flood. FABLE STILL WORKED! =D Imagine how excited I was. However, much to my dismay, I could not play the Godfather. It wasn't compatible for some reason. I was quite angry with this turn of events!
After playing through Fable due to the rather small collection of 360 games (in other words, just Marvel Ultimate Alliance), I started researching if there would be a sequal. To my eternal happiness, I found there would be.
About 2 years later, I'm all hyped up and... well, let down, to a certain extent. Of course, Fable II is still amazing to me. I love this series. Albion is amazing, and the game is just... fun! Its the only Xbox game I bought that I'm still playing.
So, when the DLC came out, I got it. IT TOO WAS A LET DOWN! But, it too was still fun! Honestly, Mr. Molyneux, I'm a bit sad when you brag about how big your stuff is, yet the ride is just not what you had hyped it up to be. Oh well, I'm still going to get the DLC that's coming out this week.
And any other DLC you ever release.
And whatever other games come out of your studio.
And I'm going to get your hair to grow a clone of you.
Or multiple clones to take over the world with. Haha, a world kept in check by fear of overhyping of games. Hahaha.

Anyways, my thoughts:
Fable 1 was hyped to be the greatest RPG of all time, and have advances in technology that weren't heard of.
It ended up being a glorified action RPG, with tons of glitches.
Fable 2 was hyped to be better than Fable 1, and have tons more unique gameplay devices.
It ended up being a glitch-fest 9000, having the least threatening villain of all time, and had the worst ending in the history of video games.
But wait there's more!
Apparently Knothole Island was supposed to be amazing, and be the best DLC package "ever made".
It ended up being a horrible dissapointment, and felt rushed and unfinished.
Fast-forward to now: "The Future" DLC PR statement literally says "we know Knothole sucked, but JUST WAIT until this comes out, it will be even better!"
Really, they have the worst PR ever (or the best?), and Molyneux just makes me throw up when combined with their awful support (no major game-ending glitch fixes for 3 months? Really?).
I'll be renting Fable 3.
Haha yea, I just wanted an excuse to rant about Fable.
You'd be the first person I've met that actually liked the ending. If it clarifies anything, I'm not counting the dream sequence as the actual ending.
My wife has a love affair with Fable as well. She loved the first one's world (I did too, to some extent), and bought II. She left very disappointed. It just didn't capture whatever magic Fable I had in my opinion. Jack of Blades, The Guildmaster, Maze, they were all great.
What made Macbeth great is that he reaped what he sewed, and was warned about it beforehand.
Fable II, you're just a dumb kid that stereotypically beats the bad guy at the end.
Macbeth>Lucien
Macduff>Fable II character
Lady Macbeth>Theresa
I see your Fable fanboyism and raise you a Shakespeare fanboyism ;-D.
Maybe I'll be eating my hat when Fable 3 comes out. I expect a blog!
I spent like 50 hours playing that game, and never beat it.
Actually, from a business perspective, the 560 pricing is chosen to make you buy more points. Look here.
Pub Games 800
Knothole 800
See the future 560
Added all up, it's exactly 2160 MS points. Sixty more than what's in a package. Therefore, you have to go and buy another pack of points, giving Microsoft more money.
I don't think it's even possible to beat that devil ! I spent half of my childhood trying to beat it ...
