Every gamer has them - those games that bring back memories of old times and nostalgic feelings. Games that make you think back of how great it was to play them and whenever you hear a bit of music, read an article or see screenshots of that game you can't help but adore those good-old times. Yesterday there was such a moment, when I read an article on the Enix/Quintent Soulblazer-trilogy:

The game I'm talking about is Terranigma on the SNES and I want to bring you a detailed blog about it next Sunday if all goes according to plan. Although to the most gamers of the SNES era it hasn't had such a big impact it certainly had on me - but that's what makes it even more unique and important to myself.

In the meantime, what are your games, that bring back those memories and are special to you?

I like to think that if my house were ever on fire and I could only save one game, I would save shadow of the colossus. I think that game is an compelling arguement for the games as art debate.
Super Mario RPG is the first that came to mind, though after thinking about it for a bit a lot more. I agree with liam2015, as well, and also because that game was just awe-inspiring.
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and LEGO MOTHERFUCKING ISLAND!
Soulblazer is quite possibly my favorite game of all time. I replay it about once a year.
super mario world
its like my favorite game ever and i play it alot
ive completed so many times ive lost count
Toe Jam & Earl. I used to pester my older brother to play with me all the time back when I was like 6. I only ever beat it once. I loved that game so much.
@shipero -- I just played through that again recently to show my girlfriend how fun it is. I never would consider it a favorite on that level though. You like it moreso than Illusion Of Gaia or Terranigma?
Playing Blades of Steel with my friend across the street. It was just so ungodly fun.
Super Mario World, Toe Jam and Earl, and E.V.O. all come to mind. I play SMW and *96 it about three times a week. It's a ritual for me.
@NegFactor

Yep, don't get me wrong I love Illusion Of Gaia and Terranigma as well, I've also played through them both several times, but Soulblazer has a special place in my heart for reasons I can't really explain.
For everyone to enjoy, here's the link to the Soulblazer-trilogy article I mentioned:

Super Mario RPG, I think I played it more than any other SNES game I owned. Great memories.
Vandal Hearts for the PS1.

It the only game i remember sitting down to start and playing through to finish in a relatively short time. The story hooked me, the art was interesting (awsome actually), and the animation was good for any of its genre. But the fact that the game had a relatively simple and smooth transition from fight to fight without ever making it impossible. You just could not stop playing.

Along with this... Double Dragon on the nes.... Nostalgia TIDAL WAVE!!! music, tooth and nail beat em up.... a good reason to sneak out of bed and get a few more hours of gaming!
chrono cross, oregon trail, legend of zelda: link's awakening, and R.A.D
Aladdin in SNES. =]
The first Super Mario Land for the Game Boy is also one of those titles - I especially loved the music, which is always the kicker for me to bring back memories.
It's not retro, but I love KH II. Though, one tof my favorite reteo games is Contra. Any game in the series would make a wimp Rosie O' Donell manly.
My own games I'll consistently come back to are Contra, Mega Man 2, Dragon Warrior 3, and Final Fantasy 4. I always find a way to come back to them and play them again.
super mario bros. 3 ive been playing this game on and off for a good part of my life (ive been told i was playing at the age of 1) ' grabs raccon suit, crys aliitle'
I would say Super Metroid, or the Ninja Gaiden trilogy on the SNES.
Chrono Trigger. There's just something so satisfying about being able to beat a game a few times in 1 sitting and getting different endings each time.
My head would asplode, because I love all my games. I'd die before the fire got to me. But there is a HUGE window right in my room, easy access for fire escape. So I could just toss all my games through the window.
The first bomberman game. Fuckin' love it.
<3 Silent Hill <3
StarTropics is probably number one. Every once in a while one of the tunes from it will pop up when my iPod is on random and I just remember back when I originally played it. It gets me all kinds of nostalgic for the 8-bit days...

Other games like that for me are Link's Awakening and Super Mario Bros 1-3, among others. No recent games come to mind as being that close to me, even though there are many that I like a lot...
