So I rented The Darkness yesterday.
I figured it would have a good single player campaign, coupled with a tacked on multiplayer mode (haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment).
Well, I've put in a couple hours, and I am loving it. While the gameplay leaves much to be desired, the story has kept me absolutely gripped. Well, that's only partially true. When Jenny got killed, I got hooked.
I'm trying my damndest, but I can't remember when a story got me this invested in a game.
Jacky is forced, by the darkness, to watch while the love of his life (the only part of his life not tainted by evil or corruption) is murdered.
It is so fucked!!! I love it.
The struggle by this character, who while far from innocent still seems to retains a code of honour and ethics, to contain his physically manifested dark side from controlling him is absolutely compelling.
Bah... like I said, I am fellating The Darkness. And I'm drunk.
Have a good night everyone.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you."
This game had me from the first kill I got with the Darkness powers, but when Jenny was capped, I was pissed off. I really really felt for her and liked her, and I like Jackie a lot too.
The ending, is a tearjerker, I promise you.
splr wrng plzz.
That is all.
