Mass Effect, or Assasins Creed, if you can only choose one. I rent all of my FPS, because I beat them in a week or two.

Jericho: Great game, but to short to be worth $60.
TimeShift: Very good game, worth your money.
From one ninja to another, I would suggest Assassins Creed, those controls look way too cool. And I've been playing the Timeshift Demo, and that game is pretty cool too.

While I have yet to grab my copy of CoD4 (grabbing it this afternoon from Best Buy) and am sure that it will provide tons of playability with all the upgrades and stuff, I of course know for a fact that The Orange Box is an amazing value. TF2 alone is worth the price of admission and all three HL:2 episodes are sick.
If you like FPS games, it'd be tough to choose between CoD4 and The Orange Box. Otherwise, Assassin's Creed looks sick as shit. Then again, as has been pointed out, Mass Effect will have a shit ton of replayability.
Tough call, man. I only have experience with The Orange Box. Dunno what to tell you.

Assassin's Creed I'm picking it up but I fear this game is mostly HYPE!
Mass Effect will most likely be worth your money for a while at the very least...then you could just pick up assassins creed later....or get gamefly....
