So, I got a little carried away, but it’s typed so it will be posted, I won’t feel bad if you TL;DR it.
First off, I’m a terrible, over wordy writer, and I apologize for that.
I’ve been lurking the website for about a year now (since 10 golden rules of online gaming was first put out – which are on my wall by the way). Generally speaking, I don’t post on websites, ever. Though, one day there was a Guild Wars pet contest, so I registered, for that, didn’t even post in the end. I can’t say I have a whole lot to offer, but at the moment I don’t feel like studying for my organic chem exam, so here I am.
I can’t say I have any particular affinity towards certain types of games, just like my music, I try to take it on a game by game basis. That being said, there certainly are some series that I’ve been in love with since the beginning. Generally though: RTS, strategic “grid” RPGS (FFT, Shining Force)
Beloved games (that I can think of right now):
Sonic, pretty much everything Sonic Advance and before
Warcraft series, but not WoW, never WoW. I play tons of WC3
Diablo 2, not loved, hated actually. But, I spent 2.5 years of my life on it, so it gets a spot
Team Fortress 2
Portal
Midnight rescure (dos)
Consoles owned (not all at once):
5 Sega Genesis – anyone else have this many break on you?
2 Dreamcasts – Brother pawned one on me
N64 - watermelon colour, heck yea!
2 Playstations – Brother’s friend stole one, and presumably pawned
PS2 – Only just got it for this year at college, brother’s
Atari Flashback 2 – impulse buy, didn’t even work right
I’m primarily a computer gamer, since computer games tend to have much more longevity, or at least they did before the advent of online console gaming. This is because I’ve had the problem of saving for a console, getting it, and never getting games, due to lack of an allowance.
Playing right now:
Katamari Damacy – Working on it slowly, pretty fun
Team Fortress 2
Warcraft 3
Guild Wars- Occasionally
The most time I’ve invested into games would be:
Diablo 2 – too much time to count…well over 2000 hours in 2.5 years, soul sucking!
Warcraft 3 – not much better, I’d say about 1500-2000 hours in the last couple years
Sonic – Oh, tons. I love that blue bugger
Team Fortress 2 – steadily increasing, got the game in March, playing it on and off
Other tidbits:
Real name: Typically people don’t know my real name, it’s usually some form of “Merks”, such as Merksy, Merkasaurous, Merkintosh, Merkintire, Massa Merksy…you get the point.
Atlantic Canadian
19 years old, 2nd and final year of college – Biotechnology, might university, might not. Looking into a job at a brewery.
I love irony applied in real life…Such as I don’t even drink, yet my main job prospect of a brewery
Always go by Rygiz or Merksy, though I do have a Lollerbate account on WC3
It’s said RYE-GIZ, not RYE-JIZZ, g as in grass or glass
Music: I prefer to go song by song, but as a general rule I avoid more rap, and pop. AI’ve got an affinity towards metal, punk, techno, industrial, epic video game music and those awesome 80’s songs.

Welcome to Destructoid, I love you. I'm still thinking of what to type in my intro blog.
Welcome to Destructoid. You may also want to do this in the forums as well. Introduce yourself to as many of us as possible.
Blog away.
Welcome to Destructoid:
Well, either he doesn't read them, or it wasn't that bad! Seeing as I got Sadistic's, which he gives his love to everyone...
What would happen if an intro post didn't have you telling them you loved them? Would they cry?
WELCOME!!
I'll skip what I usually say at this point, seeing as you have already been here a year, but, like the great Mankind once said:
Have a nice day!! :)
yah I read most of them, but I get the jibba-jabba of the longer ones
@Mushman
You're breaking the trend!!
@Sadistic
Ah, that's what I figured, I still recived love, even if it's more spread out than gravity's strength through the universe (sorry, it came to me mid type, and I had to put it, physics FTL), and as such, all is well.
Welcome kind sir, do wipe your feet before you enter this fine establishment.
Ok, two things:
1- You're learning Biotechnology? Please don't tell me it's not as awesome as it sounds.
2- You should listen to more Djent :)
@MrSadistic
NUFF O YHO JIBBA JABBA FHOO!!!
wat
@Puppy Licks
Saddly, it isn't that amazing, though I do get full acess to a green house, making ethanol and beer next semiester, and have genetically modified plants and bacteria. Also got to see my own DNA, by doing it myself which prettyis badass.
Djent ? Google and YouTube tell me it's a a picking method for guitar, with what appears to be a thud onto the string followed by a pause in picking, giving it more of a "pop". If there's a band or something, let me know.
@ Sadistic
Don't worry about it, hardly anyone would get what I'm talking about.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, go watch the intro to Half Life...I CAN GET A JOB AT THE B.M.!
if you get hired there you will be called ryjizz fo sho.
www.myspace.com/periphery
thats your best bet for Djent goodness, enjoy :)
Ah, yes, a high concentration of djent indeed. Though, I've never been a huge fan of that singing style, I'm more of 80's early 90's music guy, as far as the heavy stuff is concerend. Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Misfits, Anthrax, Danzig, Judas Priest, and of course A-Ha.
@Atlas
I once sat in a TF2 acheivements server, continually killing the people trying to farm acheivements until they said my name right.
Welcome ex lurker and fellow new guy, you seem to have done a very nice job of introducing yourself. I hope you hit it off with everybody, which it looks like you have, so get to bloggin' brotha!
Welcome. You're doing well so far, remember the prime directive around here is don't suck. =)
If any of the "nameless" others here are reading this, take example from this introduction. Ya done good, man.
