Mel Brooks is amazing. Everything the man touches turns to gold. I picked Robin Hood: Men in Tights at Wal-Mart earlier today, and it's incredible. This man is truly a god among mere mortals. Go pick up one of his movies. Any one it doesn't matter. You can thank me later.

Anyway, bake to basics. I need a theme for next week. Have a great weekend guys.

Today's band: Less Than Jake

Less Than Jake, formed in 1992 as a power-pop trio (things change), have become one of the more well known names among ska fans. Before the formation of Less Than Jake, vocalist and guitarist Chris Demakes, drummer Vinnie Fiorello, and bassist Shaun Grief led a local band named Good Grief while attending high school in Port Charlotte, Florida. Good Grief broke up when Demakes moved north to attend the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida. On July 13, 1992, what would become Less Than Jake was born. While Grief moved to New York City (he would later return as the band's roadie), Demakes and Fiorello began writing songs on the weekends before Fiorello would join Demakes at the University of Florida.[1] When united, the pair decided they needed a bass player, but first, they wanted a name. The band's name comes from Fiorello's dog, Jake, who was treated better than the rest of the household, so everything was "less than Jake." In 1993, the band recorded and released their first 7" record, Smoke Spot, hand pressing all 300 records themselves. Since then, the band has grown steadily thanks to their hybrid of punk, rock, and ska sounds.

Next week could be prog, like Dream Theater, Opeth, old Rush, Between the Buried and Me, that kind of stuff.

I've been listening to Less Than Jake since I was still in middle school. Their music still inspires me to this day. As Mushman said, great choice!

Great choice. I love LTJ. I like all their albums, although In With The Out Crowd was a bit of a change of direction...

Prog would be a good theme for next week. Also Metal, but Metal has so many genres, I think it would require a Metal month just to cover a few different types of Metal.
