The theme this week is rap that doesn't suck. No Soulja Boi, no Flo Rida, none of that shit. People these days have forgotten what good rap is. Well this week is dedicated to the best in rap, from the 70's (or 60's, I forgot when rap was born) to today. Also, I'm not limited to one song this week given the broadness of the theme. This song is one of my favorites (anyone recognize it?), although I listen to almost no rap. The next four days will be all of your stuff. Let loose.
Also, I was talking to Mikey earlier today. Many of you are familiar with the header he made for Y0j1mb0 and the amazing art on his blog, Not to mention his work on the blog header you see above. I was talking to him earlier today about the possibility of doing custom artwork for a small fee. I was thinking about you send him a picture and $10, he sends you a badass cartoony version of yourself. This is all very preliminary (I think this may even be news to him) but what I want to know is if the demand is there. Come on, speak up, you know you want one.
If there is no Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep, Leaders of a New School, Public Enemy, or KRS-One it will fail.
Also Mikey is the MAN... ten dollars is cheap for his work. That said, if Mikey is reading this I want the original artwork for my blog header as a Christmas present. :D
If there are many people interested in some original artwork, I'll start a blog about it. Just need to work out a pricing plan. The money would sure help towards helping me get to PAX 2009! :D

After spending YEARS of my youth listening to this type of drivel(that's the price you pay for having too many 'gangsta' friends')
I came to this conclusion, in the past 10 years, the only 'rapper' who actually has talent is Eminem.
I not 'ignorant' of Rap, I just see it as the cesspool of garbage is has become, sorry but it's like that now.
Expect Rap on this blog to be 'old school', because all the new stuff is terrible.
For a new(er) one I suggest "Do Not Fire" by Madvillain. short, instrumental.
Oldie... Planet Rock. definitely. Or Searching for the Perfect Beat. I don't know why, but I feel like listening to Bambataa.
