I was very pleased with last week's turnout. Halloween Week garnered the largest comment average of any week. That being said, I think RedRabbit was right all along.
In the very first dTunes, RR said: "I think this is a really good idea, but I think having a week dedicated to one band could be a put-off if someone doesn't like the band. Maybe a Band/Song a day."
Based on last week's activity, he is probably right. For example, Leftover Crack was week two's band. They play very fast, punk-like music, which is definitely not for everyone. If you didn't like the song featured on day one, chances are you won't check back on day two.
That being said, from now on, instead of having one band a week, dTunes now features one theme per week. I'm am effectively giving myself a much larger workload so you can get more enjoyment out of this blog.
Don't like today's song? Suggest a song or video that goes along with this week's theme. This should give us a much larger variety of songs and genres.
Anyway, this week's theme is "The Joys of the Nonsensical." Songs featured this week will be here because they just don't make any sense. I don't mean that they have a difficult to decipher topic. I mean that both the lyrics and the subject matter are simply so bizarre, so out there, so random, that you are forced to simply sit back and enjoy the ride. Oh, and having a strange video doesn't hurt either.
Because of this change of pace, I'm relying on your suggestions more than ever, both for songs and themes. So please, don't hold back.
I second Bwark-Kupo's suggestion... love that song, but I'll be damned if I can find any meaning in it.
I'd also suggest "Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit". This song was definitely picked on for being incomprehensible when it first got big... and the video has that weird old janitor.
Wait, shit, that's right. Universal demands that all of their artists' songs have the embed turned off. You guys wouldn't mind me putting a link when I cant put videos?
Fucking Universal is the reason why Primus wasn't dTunes #1-5.
@Bwark-Kupo
I did, and it wasn't bad, I kind of liked it. But it's just not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for randomness above all things, like a certain Primus song for example...
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I just won.
Also, I'm starting to like me some Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I'd also suggest "Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit". This song was definitely picked on for being incomprehensible when it first got big... and the video has that weird old janitor.
Also, "Primus - Southbound Pachyderm"... crazy song, crazy lyrics, crazy video
Well, tomorrow's obviously Primus, just try to guess which one...
I estimate 1 or 2 comments until you guys figure it out. Hint: it's not SP. Sorry, but I've got a much more bizarre song in mind...

Anyhow, THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. Doesn't matter what song, all of theirs are pretty random. Personal favs go to "Particle Man" and "Istanbul(not Constantinople)", but "The Mesopotamians" might be more appropriate to the theme.
This was my first thought when you mentioned the theme for this week

Although it's not an official video for a song, its short and sweet. SOD - Milk
come on man you over looked the obvious TMBG choice
The most non-sensical song I can think of it is
