dTunes #1 (I'll explain everything inside) [NVGR]

Welcome to dTunes (yes I know it's a horrible name, but I couldn't come up with anything else).

The point of this blog is to start a running column of sorts. Every day, Monday-Friday, I am going to post a music video. Every week will be dedicated to one band or group, so each band gets five songs.

On Mondays, new week, new band. Simple right? This is where y'all come in.

The aim of this column isn't for me to share my tastes in music with the community, it's for the members of the community to introduce other members to new music and bands. This is a community-run column; members suggest songs for the next day's post and bands for next week.

I want this blog to grow the community by letting them share their tastes and influences and, hopefully, bring the members of the site into a new level of unity while developing a distinct personality for the site.

I know it's a little ambitious and optimistic, but at least give it a chance.

To start things off, this week's band will be Rage Against the Machine, mostly because I couldn't think of anything else. Keep in mind that this is just the first week. Who knows, next week could be techno or something, it depends completely on suggestions.

I think this is a really good idea, but I think having a week dedicated to one band could be a put-off if someone doesn't like the band. Maybe a Band/Song a day

band/song a day isn't as original as this. I like the idea. Puts a spin on things.

May I suggest Rage Against the Machine-Calm Like A Bomb . Lesser known, but I love it. nice bass line.

Umm... As for next week, how about some classic rock? I say Foreigner. Great 80's band.

Gonna subscribe to this blog.

I was going to post a band/video, until I re-read your post. So this entire week you're dedicating to Rage Against The Machine? Future bands/groups I'd like to suggest would be: Tegan and Sara, Armin van Buuren, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Sum 41, etc.

Your ideas interest me. I plan to subscribe to this new service and offer it my full support!

RATM, classic, i don't think there's a decent person alive who doesn't dig them. I remember my friends trying to order tickets online 2 minutes after they went on sale but by that time all the online tix had already sold out. kind of crazy.

I've yet to give "One Day as a Lion" a good listen too, but combining elements of RATM and the Mars Volta seems like a masterpiece waiting to happen. Anyone who's got the new album yet care to give us their opinions??

Finally, to end my spam, I'll limit myself to posting one reccomendation per-week rather than listing 50 bands in one go, so here's my first mention:

http://www.myspace.com/armcannon
(pick Boomer Esiason Kuwanger first. then Still more fighting.)

Omfg, this isn't fucking imeem. Keep this shit in the forums. But if it were a new guy, he would get flamed over this, but no, you have to be Dtoid famous to post massive amounts of nvgr blogs and not get flamed.

ok, i can see where this might be going, as a lot of people are happy to jump in, list their favourite bands and then leave. What we should all be doing to get involved is rather than list a whole lot of band, just list a single band but then explain why we like them so much. having said this, let me lead by example and explain why I love and why you should listen to the band I mentioned: ArmCannon.

Arm Cannon could be described as a progressive metal/rock band that choose to perform covers of Retro Videogame songs (ie, Megaman, Zelda & FFVII themes). You could say that the kind of music leans more towards metal than rock, with the tempo for a lot of the songs being pushed up considerably and the double kick drumming giving the songs more balls than ever thought possible. As they are VG covers, there are no vocals, so those of you who are not inclined to the sweet sounds of screaming and growling that metal usually provides can still enjoy what Arm Cannon has to offer. The musicians appear to be quite talented too, as you can hear from the piano solos in SMegaman3, and the almost Opeth-like timing changes in BoomerKwanger.
I love these guy not only because they cover themes from the games that I love, but because the take these themes and transform them into something entirely of their own.

Thats all from me for this week. Happy listening, and great idea once again Ron.

Don't like it? Go to a different site. Try 4chan, I think you would fit in there.

I don't know what you hope to accomplish. I am going to post this, day after day. I'm not going to let some angry kid with a keyboard and delusions of grandeur tell me what I can and can't do.

Have fun with your hate. Somewhere else.

That is a great idea. Just keep in mind, I need to be able to find 5 songs of theirs on YouTube. Small bands might be a problem.

Oooo mr. tough guy. Trying to be rational and fake about his life. Please cut this shit out. And then I wonder why all the veterans left, you know the ones before your fake ass even heard of this website. It can only be so long before Yojimbo, Dragon, and Counting Conflict leaves, as well as a few others.

Oh well, every good sites gets ruined by hypocritical teenagers who act like everything they do is better for the website. Just look at IGN, Gamespot, etc.

Fake? what's fake about me? I'm here because I'm a gamer, as is the point of the site. How am I killing it? It's people like you that make sites like this die. How? By being go God damn unpleasant. People check Dtoid out, see comments and conversation like this, think "screw this," and turn right back around.

Oh, and by the way, this is NVGR

Hey unhide all your blogs there pal, because 4 to probably 50 is nothing.

Also, the first is nvgr, but epic, the second as well, the third maybe you should read it, I tried to make it vgr somehow and the 4th is epic as well.
