Yeah, it's true. Just did some checking with various inside sources. It's happening.

Story link here

Gaming blog Kotaku has broke the story that Peter Moore will leave his position at Microsoft to head up EA Sports. After hearing of this, I did my own asking around to various industry sources and so far, two independent insiders have confirmed the move.

While this may look like a step down for Moore, keep in mind that the pressure of the continued technical issues with the Xbox 360 could lead Microsoft down a very dark path. Perhaps Moore is looking to jump ship before the whole thing comes sinking down? Stay tuned for official news on what would be an earth-shattering development in the videogame world.

Aslong as I get my Left 4 Dead I could careless...
Hi Summa! How are you?
I'm good. Just wanted to let you guys know that this rumor is looking to turn out true. It's all anyone can talk about inside these companies -- or so I am hearing from these people.
Wow, good to see there are still enough assholes around.
I guess that is why we saw no tattoos!

Well he knew it was coming sooner or later, I mean M$ only made the 360 to stop Sony from a monopoly and they have succeeded. So all they have to do is sit back, and maybe release one more sub-par (read:faulty machinery) console and call it quits as Nintendo mops up!

Then we can rejoice at the return of Sega in the form of DREAMCAST 2!
The man's gonna run out of places on his body to tattoo MADDEN 20XX every year at E3.
I think some folks are assholish to you because

1) They disliked you while you were here
2) Something about you dissing destructoid on Epilectic Gaming last week or something
3) All of the above

Very interesting news anyway I never envisioned him in that position (no sexual innuendo intended)
Summa told me I was 'immature' and 'childish' so I should just 'fucking leave destructoid', right before he quit. Thanks. Probably angry because of something to do with that 19 yr old.

Apology or gooooo fuck yourself. Cereal.
ooooo BURRRRRRNNNNNN!!!!!
Summa, great to see you again - hows life on the West Side?
summa just wants to blog so he can be the honorary editor at PAX. and seriously, Rob, whats with dissing blogs for being orgies of speculation and then posting shit like this? I thought gaming blogs were so two minutes ago
ROFLPOCALYPSE

Bye.
Hmm I wonder if Peter will change the world while sitting in an office @ EA...

prolly not...
Guys, be nice!
If that's true, Peter Moore might be my new neighbor soon...I'm soooo using his hot tub!
I will have a...anyways
He hot linked to his own site. Probably to his own blog, but I'm not clicking that piece of shit.

Im nice, I just asked for a simple little...

"Drop trou, and squeeze out, a cleveland steamer, on my chest."
i'm gonna shave my head and start cleaning up my resume.
My brain is so confused, right now. I feel like a pet rabbit that's just been placed inside an enclosure with pastel murals of Richard Simmons and Gilbert Gottfried painted on the walls.
Oh, wait, I forgot. I can't believe this because it's from an outside perspective and it's probably absolutely not true. You know, being on a blog and all.
Is this one of those uneducated and uninformed opinions that gaming blogs so frequently make Summa?

And Summa, before you start posting all willy-nilly on D'toid's blog again, perhaps you'd care to explain yourself for this recent quote you made regarding your former employers.

We'd sure like to know why you'd say shit like this about this site and Kotaku, and then turn around the VERY NEXT day with a fucking rumor. It could turn out true for all I care, and probably will be, but it's still a fucking rumor that you're posting, which by your own qualifications is an uneducated and unenlightened opinion, since by posting on this blog, you're obviously an outsider to the industry.

But, I'll reserve comments about your professional attitude on this till you post a reply.
I love when people take things completely out of context.
Oh, and Kotaku's still reporting this as a rumor, Summa.

So, this ain't moving past Rumor-Town until I see otherwise from a REAL news source, and not your crappy CD Key spammed blog.
So... Explain yourself then.

You've got all the room in the world to type up an explanation, make it all rational-like, and win us over again. If you don't bother to and wanna blow us all off with 1 sentence replies, then you've burned this bridge and you need to move on dude.
Why should I bother with an explanation? If you watch the actual video of what I said, that should be enough. I can't spell things out for every single person in the world.

I even had the same sort of discussion with Niero and Ron on this very subject of blogs. Try to redirect your unabashed hate elsewhere.
I might get in trouble, as a staffer, for posting in this thread, but honestly, I just want to say that such comments made on EG were utterly devoid of class. That's all.
A one line publicly open apology will do.

Unless we're not worth your time because you're an ass.
I'd think at the very least, you'd get the original poster, BluFire to redact his story. After all, if it's taken out of context and incorrect, it's slanderous and you being a "journalist" you think you'd be concerned about your reputation in the community you claim to be a part of.

I don't go letting my name get dragged through shit where it could hurt my reputation professionally.
@Jim

You're not the first editor to have that opinion on this topic, so consider yourself safe, IMO.
There's nothing I said that's not true in many respects. Only recently, say, since I moved closer to the gaming industry have I been shown the light, so to speak.

I admit, that I myself was ignorant at times to a lot of things going on in the gaming industry, simply because I wasn't inside and didn't have that access. What I said was completely true with blogs and who writes for them -- for the most part. Jim, try not to take it as an insult, it's just a fact of life in this industry as I have been able to see it now looking from the inside out.
And honestly, that same stigma I talked about still lingers in the mind of many people in the industry, press and non-press. Blogs have their place and I think Destructoid still fills a very necessary void that never existed.

I wasn't trying to discredit anyone, just pointing out that as my experience and exposure within the industry grows, so do the glaring mistakes that I constantly see. I saw this all the time even before, during, and after my life at Dtoid.

Again, there's nothing wrong with what Destructoid does. To me, Dtoid isn't your everyday blog. It's a community site for and by gaming fans, not a serious news source. And to me, there's nothing wrong with that. We need sites like this to exist to keep others in check, which is exactly what Dtoid does.
I just joined Destructoid not so long ago so I have no clue whatsoever whats going on, but yes, I would like more solid info before believing this rumor.
Summa, I'm speaking as someone who ISN'T a journalist and not a blogger on this site or any gaming site. Or as someone with any credible inside source to the world of video games.

I watched your clip on GGL

You just completely cut down this site in your clip. And Kotaku, and Crecente, all gaming blogs, publicly. I don't think BluFire missed anything in his assessment of your statement.

I'm not personally privy to your roles you take in the game industry but claiming to be closer to the industry 'cause you moved to LA is about as fucking lame as me claiming the same status as being "in" cause I played the Halo 3 beta.

Seriously weak.

On a note to your comments on GGL, you cut down the entire credibility of this site, in public, and trashed this site who's community you spent months with. It's distressing to me and to a few others here that you're going to come up here and act like there's nothing wrong with what you said. It's pretty black and white. You don't respect D'toid. Fine.

Go away.
Yeah, for now, it's rumor. It's going to be rumor until it's officially announced. All I can tell you is that people inside have confirmed the talk of this happening.
Hmm, that looks like a back pedal me. Don't trip and fall Summa.
So you're stating the fact that you still hold what you said true.

/mundane

Just because you get a different perspective on a certain situation doesn't mean you should take all that into accountablity of what you already know of the industry, but rather continue to try and change, or be considerate of what you say about your outlook and opinion, even if bad, so that you can professionally continue to do what's best for the benifet of gaming, journalism, and your "career".

Rumor no more, I told you this is what was being said. From Kotaku:

Microsoft just confirmed the news we exclusively broke two hours ago: Peter Moore resigned from Microsoft.

Moore will be replaced by Don Mattrick, a former president of EA and current external adviser for Microsoft, who will now lead the Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft. While the official release says that Moore "has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry", we've heard that calls have already started going out within the industry confirming that the other "opportunity" is EA where he will head up EA Sports.
Addendum to your recent comment.

You're as justified as you want to be to make that claim, but you also affect the potential journalistic credibility of others by making those comments. ANY editor on this site that has aspirations of moving on from here as you so famously seem to have ARE affected by comments from other people in the industry. When you make a shit comment like you did, you hurt others. You also hurt this site in general by attempting to discredit it completely as non-news and rumormongering. I think that the E3 coverage on this site was as comprehensive and well thought out as on any other site out there, and that aside from a lack of streaming coverage from the show, they had just as much coverage and "news" on this site as they did IGN and Gamespot.

I tracked both Kotaku and this site throughout the show and found both of their coverage pools to be informative and compelling, and with the same level of content as IGN and Gamespot.
Summa, as someone who was part of the Dtoid staff, you know as well as I do that we steer clear from rumors as it is. Last rumor to get posted was from me, which I clearly labelled as a rumor and posted only for the entertainment purposes. I've been on staff for what, a couple months? A very short time, and even I know Dtoid's stance on rumors. Perhaps, as our chief editor, you were unaware of your own site's policies? I would hope not.

You claimed many times you were on the "inside" even while writing for Destructoid. Why is it only now that you have decided that you can't stand us, or that we pass off rumors as fact. Furthermore, why are you using our facilities to promote your own work if we're not worthy? Even further to THAT, why are you writing on a gaming blog, which you badmouthed, and posting a rumor, that you smirked at? It would strike me hypocrisy.

Oh, and don't patronize me. I was, of course, talking directly with executive producers and CEOs on Friday, and that's not even close to what my colleagues have been doing. We don't need to be told about 'seeing the light' and we're not 'ignorant'.

Jim, I understand where you're coming from, believe me. It's a certain aspect that is just very hard to get across electronically. Had you and I had this discussion over a couple beers, there wouldn't be this wall.
Jim the whole time I just pictured you throwing your monicle in disgust with a deep Trainspotting accent.

Excuse me if I go run around in circles outside till I puke now, because this bores me.
dude whatever. we dont even give a shit if its a rumor or not. you burned your bridges now deal with it. enjoy your basement talk show
"then you read blogs like Joystiq, Kotaku, Destructoid, all of them, I mean, it doesn't matter; they come at it from this outside perspective and just state things as if they were fact, and they're absolutely not true."

This was not said electronically, and there's no other way to take that than as a straight up insult. Now Summa, YOU are the one with an outside perspective of Destructoid, and you passed your opinions of us off as fact. All I would advise is that you don't do it again, because bridges are best left untorched.
and btw I can't wait for that game you're making to come out. I mean, you ARE in the industry now, right? what did you do, scripting, lighting, and texturing, or were you more involved in production.

I heard it was called "douchelord"
So, that's why there's a video of you dissing the site then, since words don't illuminate your opinion as clearly, right?
Dtoid page views ftw!
^^^ !!!!

He is doing this for the PAX contest, then?

Loser.
Jim, don't mind that douche-turd (to borrow from the vernacular of the previous Summa discussion). He's an ass-hat. A self-serving, self-centered, self-absorbed ass-hat.

It's not gonna get any more mature than that, because I really don't feel a need to explain why I feel that way ;)
