It may not be the case for all, but my gaming life has been pretty stagnant lately.
Let's see, the last game I bought was Age of Conan. I've been wanting SOMETHING to dethrone World of Warcraft forever. Sadly, nothing has really come close in matching that feeling I had in my first year or so of playing WoW. Many games have come and gone that had potential but never fully realized it. I think Age of Conan will be another one of those tragedies. Who knows, I may have just been turned off by the rocky launch that AoC endured. I do know that AoC has potential, and if I see some updates or enhancements to fix the problems in that game I might even consider going back.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a WoW hater. I was a loyal player for near three years. While many argue that WoW is oversimplified and is the "every-man's" MMO, there's really no denying the fact that it is a solid game. The truth is, I love WoW (maybe a bit less after The Burning Crusade). But I'm sick of it. It's old. We're coming up on the 4 year anniversary of this juggernaut and STILL not one game has captured the essence that keeps players coming back for more that WoW possesses.
I want a game like WoW....that isn't WoW. I've lost count of how many times I've renewed my subscription only to play for a month and just get bored of it.
That's not my point, though. I've been bored in terms of games.
In fact, the only reason I renewed my WoW subscription is to kill time until the 10th of June. That's when Dragonball Z: Burst Limit is released. I'm a huge Dragonball Z fan, and it's a shame I'll only be able to give it my full attention for only a day or so, until Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out on the 12th.
So...I just got done ranting about how I have too much time on my hands and need games to play.
In near a week I'll have too little time to do anything else.
Funny how things work out.
