I never understood Mario. Overweight Italian plumber who saves hot princesses and murders turtles. I don't think i ever will. Not baby Mario, not cute Mario in a bee suit, not 2d Mario.

This makes me one voice against a million, and in that Sonic vs Mario battle from yesteryear, i rooted whole-heartedly for Sonic.

(This of course had nothing to do with the fact that i was bought a Sega Master System, instead of SNES for christmas, i can assure you! )

I kind of grew up on Mario games, and Sonic games still own my ass.

But, I don't really have a personal preference.

Dude, your avatar was my favorite character in AvP the arcade game. You just brought back memories of that incredible game. I totally forgot about it until now. I used to blow so many quarters on that and the Bucky O Hare game.

Sadly, I'll probably never play both ever again. =(

Wow, i look away for ten seconds and i get swamped! I'm like, famous! Or not. Anyway yes. Sonic was just Sonic. He wasn't overweight, or trying to bone a princess, who was in another castle. There were no walking talking mushrooms. The series is pretty bad now (barring the DS games), but Sonic 1, 2, 3 and the lock-on cart were some of the best gameplay in my childhood (barring Solomon's Key... I actually was tempted to buy the Wii for that alone!)

AvP was amazing. I had the privilege to play it in SegaWorld, when it was a "free play day". I spent hours finishing the damn game on unlimited credits, and i'd love to see it hit VC or XBLA, along with Bucky, and the D&D game that was similar to Golden Axe.

Mario just... he's a fat guy after some princess that looks half is age, stomps on random stuff and makes countless appearances games he should never be in, like driving, football, basketball etc.
