Resident Evil Degeneration
RikkuInTheMiddle | 11:43 AM on 12.10.2008 18 comments

Since the first trailers of the movie were published, I've got the feeling that this movie was just an excuse to join together one more time, two of the most beloved characters of the Resident Evil series. The teaser trailer of the Comic-Con and the one of TGS showed that Capcom, at least had developed a full story with new characters and all new stuff.

Now, I'd been lucky enough to finally see that movie, and I must say that it had surprised me a lot more that I thought.

Except for some facial animations (really weird sometimes), the film has a good quality, specially light, fire and explosion effects, and a really good movement animations in the action scenes. I must say that, by seeing the YouTube trailers, I'd expected the worst but luckly I was wrong.

The story, even it doesn't fit precisely in the series' argument, has its own personality and it's quite interesting by itself to be seeing by not RE fans. It connects too with some events of Resident Evil 4 and, the most important, it links with the future Resident Evil 5, thanks to that "evil" new corporation known has TRICELL, the one that Excella Gione (and maybe Wesker) manages from the dark.

Concluding, RE: Degeneration is a very good and interesting movie that shows us the path that the "real action" movies would have been taken from the beginning. We've had to wait for 7 years for a movie "from fans for fans" that finally respects the spirit of the series.

Thanks Capcom.

Mikami-san won't play Resident Evil 5
RikkuInTheMiddle | 6:17 AM on 12.01.2008 5 comments

Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil series had said in an interview for PS Magazine that "He won't play Resident Evil 5". The fact is quite curious since Mikami was behind every game of the saga, from Resident Evil (and RE Remake, of course) to Resident Evil 4, and he is responsible too of the spin-offs like RE Outbreaks and even Gun Survivors, which are not well known because of their "quality".

The reason is simple. Resident Evil 5 is the first game not developed under Mikami's supervision, so I think, for him, is like saw your own child being grown up by someone else. If he plays it, he will not enjoy the game like the rest of the fans because he will be too critic in some things that he would have make quite different.

The fact is that these declarations of Mikami can be misunderstood willingly by the own journalists, in a pretended war between two factions: Mikami and the fans that want a return back to the roots of survival horror, and Takeuchi and the fans that love Resident Evil 4 and his innovative gameplay. For me, that is absurd because Mikami was the creator of the RE4 gameplay too.

Resident Evil 5 - Jill, could you really be dead?
RikkuInTheMiddle | 3:16 AM on 11.28.2008 13 comments

The last Tokio Game Show gave us some good news and a really disturbing image that is still shocking all the fans of RE series. In the Alternate trailer (known as Play God), we can see just for a short time a tombstone:

There is no place for a missunderstanding. It clearly says Jill Valentine 1974 - 2006. It could possibly be true? Could be Capcom so naif to think that fans will forgive them for killing the most beloved character among all the saga?

I think that this is just a trick for making us fans to argue to the infinite about Jill's true fate. Jill is still alive in Resident Evil 5, but she's just taking a bath! In otherwords, she is the girl in the tube showed in the first vids of the game.

Fans always thought that girl was Jill (she look-a-like a lot), but Takeuchi only confirms the presence of Sherry Birkin, so like that was the only image of a female character that we got, we asume that was Sherry.

But then, Famitsu published more info and some screenshots that shows us another girl, with long blonde hair, that doesn't seem to fit with our "girl in the tube". So... that girl in the red dress must be Sherry.

Well then, who is the other girl?

The last trailers shows us another character, a masked one that wears a cloak and seems to protect Dr. Excella Gione, of Tricell (the opposite corporation to Umbrella, and to Wesker, I supose). She (at least looks like she had a breast) can infect by touching her victims, so she is infected too with some sort of hybrid virus of Las Plagas and the T-Virus. So we can argue that the girl in the tube (who is inside there because of her infection) is the Bird-like masked woman of the vids... And by simple deduction, Jill is the Bird-like woman.

So, now we got 2 options, and none of them is good: or Jill is definitively dead or she have become an infected enemy for Chris to kill.

We will have to wait until February to reveal the truth of this X-File... The Truth is still Outhere

 about me

I am a videogamer girl from Spain, who loves videogames (of course), and specially that genre called survival horror.

I don't use to write in English so, please, be comprehensive about any mistake I could possibly make.

(Do I need to say that I love Mass Effect too?)
