Playstation games I never played (but now will).
Revolt in Colour | 10:24 PM on 03.31.2008 23 comments

I just recently (like yesterday) discovered Playstation emulators work quite well.

So I went off in search of some roms and got to seeing which games I remember hearing a
lot about but never bought (give me a break I was a broke ass 10 year old when I got my
PS1).

Here's the list I came up with:

Final Fantasy Tactics (I know. So bad. I started this one today.)
Fear Effect
Einhander
Chrono Cross (Another bad one. I loved Chrono Trigger)
Vagrant Story
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue

And that's all I could think off the top of my head.

Anyone have suggestions? I played most of the popular games, so you can probably rule
those out. But what PS1 games did you love that I maybe haven't played?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Can I not have a link to your not emulator and not rom site so i can not play MGS for the first time?
MrSadistic's Destructoid Blog
Colony Wars 1-3, Galerians, G-Police, Blazing Dragons, Resident Evil 1-3, Star Ocean: The Second Story,

Uhhh there's a crap load that I can't remember that I absolutely loved.
Das Inchworm's Destructoid Blog
i loved chrono cross.

also, running wild

Chrono Cross was awesome. Soundtrack is so beautiful. That game has one of the hardest battle systems for the PS1. 1 wrong turn and you're fucked. Plus one of the only games I know of that allows you to run from a boss battle. (granted it doesn't do shit in your favor, it gives you a chance to see some more dialoug and maybe first turn to what...heal?)

add Xenogears it you haven't played it already. Along with Thousand Arms. Legend of Dragoon. as Mr.Sadistic said, there's a shit load of em out there that I don't remember.

Good shit guys.

@Neonie

I did not PM you.
MrSadistic's Destructoid Blog
Yeah forgot about The Legend of the Dragoon. It's a very underrated RPG.

lol @ Neonie's and Revolt's banter. Excellent.

dear mr.sadistic
I thought I was the only one who liked the colony wars series. Can we be great friends until the end of time now? Also, no love for G-Police 2?
MrSadistic's Destructoid Blog
Yeah, I loved the Colony Wars series. It's probably the greatest space-sim/sci-fi action game series ever. Also, G-Police 2 is cool too, it just totally slipped my mind when listing my person favorites. Like I said, I have a lot of personal Playstation classics that I lose track sometimes.

oh yea also Legend of Legaia. I remember this being a big game and turned out pretty decent. though it's a game I started and never got a chance to finish or pick up.

also Breath of Fire III and IV. Definately III.

Assuming that you've already played Symphony of the Night (Now that it's on XBLA), my only addition to this list would be Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

@UUDDLRLRBASTART

I've played it and loved it. Passionately.

can i also not have any part in not having the links to this non emulator, and non roms?

Das has a point. running Wild was highly entertaining, and no worries it's not a 40+ hour bangout session like i'm about to suggest: Lunar 1 :D

Actually moreso Suikoden I and II if you've never experienced those and think that the PSP combo edition will never hit the US shores like I do.

If you have not played Xenogears, you should play it.

You know I got like 100+ hours of entertainment out of International Track and Field. I hurt my hands so bad because o f the running and rubbing your hands over two of the buttons technique. Then my disc got scratched. Twas a sad day. Have you played all three of the original GTA games?

Star Ocean 2!

Is Fear Effect really supposed to be that good? I almost bought a copy the other day, but passed it up.

As far as suggestions go, No One Can Stop Mr Domino is fun if you like a challengeing puzzle type game, bu I'd give a good recommendation to Swagman. Zelda-viewed walk around game with nice actiony bits sprinkled in. Also, Mega Man Legends games?
Samit Sarkar's Destructoid Blog
Some of my favorite PS1 games of all time came from the Spyro trilogy (Insomniac did the first three games and Universal has done all the [not as good] games since then):

Spyro the Dragon
Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage
Spyro: Year of the Dragon

They truly were shining examples of platforming at its best.

 about me

My love for videogames is only eclipsed by my love of music. I have an unnatural affinity for zombie movies, Reeses' Cups, and slide guitar. I own a gaming PC and a Macbook and love both. I've seen more movies than I'd like to say. I currently own the exciting Wii360 combo. I've owned every game system since except the Gamecube. The Deadliest Catch and LOST are the best shows on TV. I would drop out of school to tour full time with a band. If there was a fire, I'd grab a guitar in each hand and hope my girlfriend would make it out alive.

WHAT AM I LISTENING TO?
Neva Dinova - The Hate Yourself Change
Okkervil River - The Stage Names

WHAT AM I PLAYING?
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360)
Portal (PC)
Crackdown (360)
Mass Effect (360)
Random games of Wii Sports Bowling (Wii)
Final Fantasy VII (PC)
