This is my first blog here on Destructoid, where I have lurked for some time never managing to summon up the herculean strength necessary to register and become a participating member UNTIL TODAY. Why the change? Well, let's just say I found an energy drink that actually WORKS FOR A CHANGE.
In all seriousness, I guess I should just get right down to business and talk about games.
What am I playing right now? Well, I wish I could say I was playing the absolute latest, hottest thing to come out, but actually I'm playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360. I got it when it very first hit shelves and despite having spend a few hundred hours with it, I felt the urge to go back and do a few things I hadn't done the first time around. I'm in one of those modes right now where I'm trying to revisit a few games that maybe I put aside too quickly to play other things and right now there are no titles really screaming at me for attention, so I figure I'll save some money and spend some time with the "oldies." My goal in Oblivion this time around was to sort of role-play as a more evil character. I'm a vampire, I have Deepscorn Hollow all decked out, and I'm trying to play in a way that somewhat reflects suitable evilness, but of course, it's hard to be REALLY evil in Oblivion without screwing up the game or killing off all the people who will buy your useless crap. More accurately, I'm an asshole. It's easier to be an asshole in the land of Cyrodill than truly "evil." But, regardless, I'm having fun with it and I'm doing some quests I never did before and doing a few other things that are somewhat new to me (like being a big magic user). I wish there were more in-depth RPGs like this for the 360. People recommend Mass Effect to me, but I've already played that one into the ground. Two Worlds is entertaining for a few days, but it just has too many problems to be fun in the long term. I didn't think it sucked as much as most of the mainstream reviewers did, but it's also not that great a game when all is said and done. It's also hard to take a game seriously when one of the most evil things in it is referred to as "the Taint."
I've played the crap out of Fallout 3 as well which, though a good game, doesn't have as much attraction to me as Oblivion. It seems like there's less to see and do in Fallout 3....or maybe it's just the setting. I dunno, but I've done almost everything in that game (including the latest Point Lookout expansion which, by the way, is not bad and easily worth getting for the FO3 fan who feels like shootin' more people's heads off). I will say that FO3 is definitely a fun game to be an asshole in, since it gives you some great opportunities to do asshole things and live the life a true, free-roaming, post-apocalyptic asshole.
I have to go for now, I'm starting to feel woozy from all that energy drink and may have to go perform xtreme sports as I am legally obliged to after drinking that stuff.

Post apocalypse > midevil/fairytale...thing(at least for me)
Yeah I loved Oblivion and Fallout 3 but post apocalyptia just seems to do it more for me.
I enjoyed both Oblivion and Fallout 3. I'm a "workin' man" as well -- look forward to reading more from you!
