a) You're 17. You're old enough to get a job.
b) Forums are thataway. ------------->
Times are tough, man. No one is hiring :'(
Hmph. Forums. I'll bet if I posted this in the forums, someone would tell me to blog it. I just want a Genesis, dude :(
I saw one in a thrift shop, boxed, two controllers and with Sonic for like $12. I would keep it under $30.
Also, what Garison said.
I think I spotted one at my local Mom & Pop video game store. If I feel generous enough, I'll actually buy it for you. :3
If I had a genesis I would sell it to you.
Your 17. The type of job you can do will hire. The "Times are Tough" shit really only applies to people with actual careers that make more than minimum wage.
Retail stores, supermarkets, fast food, and manual labor jobs always need people.
Check out your local goodwill/salvation army, you could most likely find one there
its a mega drive not a genesis, silly american
What Shupershawn said. I have found about 3 at my local goodwills. One of those was a 2nd generation one like in the picture.
Redface, I have a 2nd Generation Sega Genesis (the one you have pictured here) that is in great cosmetic condition and works flawlessly. I have one controller, the ac adapter and an rf adapter.
I also have a small collection of games for it that I would be willing to throw in. If you're interested, PM me.
@Sick and Garrison
Obviously neither of you have tried to get a job in today's economy, its hard even for people with college degrees, you think they're gonna hire a high school kid?
Not to mention that even the jobs he could be hired for are highly competitive because of the economy and everyone needing a job so even a position flipping burgers is sought out for.
So both of you can shut the fuck up, don't be so goddamn ignorant.
wow guys, take a chill pill. EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY!

Your welcome.
Try goodwill! They often have some retro systems for good prices. Also, if you have an independent game shop nearby, I bet that you can find one there for a reasonable price, and even strike up a friendship with the owner (helpful for future purchases).
Also, don't be mean Kyousuke. It's tough to get a job, but its not an impossibility. If you keep an eye out for a job thats open to a 17-year old, you'll find that companies are more than willing to hire them. They'll often settle for much less pay than a college graduate. I do see the angle you're coming from though, and it certainly is valid, but theres no reason to be so harsh about it.
WTF is wrong with paypal? It takes literally 5 minutes to set up and is the furthest thing from being a hassle. On top of that Ebay isn't the place it used to be when it first opened, the fear of getting a box of rocks is just stupid unless you buy from a new seller with zero feedback who uses a stock photo for the auction.
@ Kyo: It is hard for people to get a job that involves their degree,I will give you that. The fast food industry or the food industry in general is always hiring. It depends on the persistence of the Job-hunter. Not many are persistent. People have to eat still. It is the one job market(even if it's the lowest income) that is always hiring. Especially 17 year old school kids.
When your town is a blackballed piece of shit, it is quite hard to find part-time work. I feel your pain.
I'm looking right now at a Sega Genesis in my local salvation army. It includes all of the neccesary cables, a controller and a copy of Barney' Hide and Seek. Its sticker price says $3.50, today is half price day.
I'm sorry. There is no way I'd give this up.
@RedFace
ugh...Dude, type in "Sega Genesis" on ebay and pick from the 500 consoles in the list.
@JamnOnTheOne
So, like, don't read the entire blog post or anything. What ever you do, don't do that.
