FPS are my favorites, followed by Third-person action/adventure, with a dash of Roleplaying.

In a competitive video game world filled with current and upcoming games like Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Haze, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Unreal Tournament 3, and this is only just to name a few of them. I was wondering where a game like LucasArts' Fracture fits into the mix?
Don't get me wrong. It looks incredibly cool in it's own right. But will it's sci-fi driven story really resonate with anyone? Or does it sound like more of the same-old same-old? I know the game has a new element in it called Deformable Terrain. But will that truly be enough in this overcrowded world of games to differentiate it from it's competition?
And now, without further adieu...here's that promised trailer.
It still has potential. I won't shrug it off just yet.
Being able to deform the terrain is only one aspect, you can shoot goulders and create wormholes in the ground, as well as make rock spires shoot up from out of the ground.
As long as it;s fun to shoot people and they have some creative level design to utilize that gimmick, I will more than likely buy it.
Still looks decent enough for me to give it a try. Especially considering three of the games you mention as "crowding the genre" are already out (Haze, Quake Wars, & UT3 on PS3) and two of them apparently suck balls (Haze and Quake Wars) AND I only own a 360 so there are only really three that I even care about (FarCry 2, Gears 2, and UT3 on 360).
I'm not falling for this one. Call me jaded, but I know how these kind of games turn out. There's one gimmick here. Just one, and it's been done before in arguably better ways. I really hope they're not relying solely on that to sell the game. It just looks so insipid.
I've always been interested in the terrain deforming mechanic, starting to wonder if it's really going to be a big deal but it could still be fun to trash the place. Would like it if we see some colossal weapons that turn huge areas inside out or something.
The story doesn't sound like much, besides that it revolves around the US being split down the middle, maybe it's meant to be a little symbolic, Fracture being what's happened to the US as well as referring to the games defining mechanic.
It's also LucasArts remembering they can do stuff besides Star Wars (and occasionally Indiana Jones) so that's good. Lately they seem to be focusing heavily on new technology in Morpheme for Star Wars: Force Unleashed and the terrain stuff here. Hope they can inject some of their old magic in there too.

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
